The band pulled a fast one with releasing Two-Faced on the day before the release to get some old school fans hyped lol There’s nothing else like that track on the album. Whack.
Royel Otis felt like they were gaming the system by covering a song that was just popular less than a year ago. But their cover of “Linger” is nice.
This reads really unhinged and paranoid. Murdering her dogs? Wth? Surely she has proof of these accusations?
yes she does, do you have google? you should use it Bixler v. Superior Court, No. B310559 | Casetext Search + Citator Mars Volta Singer Alleges Scientologists Killed His Dog Over Danny
@Kibbles Why wouldn't she be paranoid? She has emily and her cult after her, watch some documentaries on scientology and how they stalk the ones who oppose them. I'd be paranoid even talking about them online if there wasn't already so much public knowledge and at this point common sense that they do horrible things.
Hitting play, don't think I like Cut The Bridge. Similarity to Bleed It Out aside, the hook isn't doing it for me and the background chants sound corny in a radio rock way
@Crisp X THANK YOU SO MUCH!! first listen to it i was like "i know this part from some radio hit back in 2010" but i couldnt put my finger on it! I was thinking mabel - dont call me up this whole time, but now i know what it was haha
Surprised so many people dislike Cut The Bridge. I'll agree it's maybe the weakest song on the album but I still find it quite enjoyable.
I wondered if something was just up with the rip I downloaded even though it was flac, but something did seem off. Had to turn it down because it didn't sound as good loud.
I liked Casualty, Overflow and Good Things Go the most out of the album tracks. The former feels like a better executed Victimized, which always sounded underbaked to my ears. Mike is channeling Page Hamilton with his growlish vocals. Overflow is probably my favorite due to the A Thousand Suns vibes. I'm not expecting them to come up with an album this left field at this point but I feel like there's still untapped potential. From a creative standpoint, that song could be a good sign of things to come. Good Things Go is my second favorite. They've done many songs like this before but this one just sounds huge and contains Emily's best performance out of the entire album. Their best closer since The Little Things That Gives You Away, surely?
1. Two Faced 2. IGYEIH 3. Good Things Go The back half is definitely much better but overall I doubt I will listen to the full album again.
Yeah I don't expect to go back to much beyond Good Things Go, Stained, and Emptiness Machine. Definitely think a lot of these will be really fun live though. The four I've already seen sounded great
“Casualty” is such a cool song, lol. Reminds me of the best of The Hunting Party in a way (which is a better way forward for heavy LP than cosplaying as their Hybrid Theory selves). Perfect song for Emily, and rad vocal approach from Mike.
Yea, I don't know that I wouldn't have thought to single it out as a terrible song. It's fine. It could have been a lot better if the percussion changed up for the chorus. The beat just keeps hammering away, but the chorus could have more impact if they just made the it "bigger." The song only gets a breather during each pre-chorus (and the bridge too). Now I feel like I'm finding reasons to hate this song lol thanks everyone
