@Penlab my comment wasn't about comparing who is more problematic but that they both are horrible people and I thought Spiritbox was avoiding those type of bands.
Mike went after fans where and in what way? That hasn't come up here to my knowledge. Please let us know. As for Emily, it's still way too ambiguous what did or didn't happen, and that's all I'm going to say on that.
My comment also wasn't about a comparison of who is worse. It's about how there very clear and numerous receipts about Radke where with Emily, there's still a lot of uncertainty about what she did or did not do.
@Penlab hopefully i'm remembering it correctly but I remember Mike going after fans on Discord or some service like that because they were bringing out these allegations about emily, it's been awhile. I do remember Cedric going after Emily specifically for how her and her crew acted in court but yeah rereading some of it it is hard to know specifics, he did say her crew sorrounded one of the victims in the elevator.
from what i remember reading from Cedric and Chrissie and others, she was allegedly at least in the crowds at the hearing, and the size of the crowds was seemingly large enough to be considered a form of intimidation and harassment. i don't think there's been anything said about her physically or verbally attacking victims (if she did, the latter would be more likely). what other did allege is that friends of hers (i.e Alanna Masterson, Bijou Phillips, etc.) were alleged to have confronted or mocked victims. it has been and continues to be a terrible look for her, but i agree with others that there's still a lot of unknown information.
on that note, as others have said here before, there might be a chance she's no longer with the Church and has privately taken steps to write those wrongs. but there's so little we know that i don't think we can conclusively say anything beyond what's already public information. and that sucks because had her associations with Masterson/Scientology not been a factor (combined with some of the songs being better, which isn't really a fault of her own), i'd absolutely be 100% on board with this phase for the band. but overall, it's still a really odd predicament.
There are many current reasons to believe she is still part of the church and none to suggest she isn't, it's pretty clear to me, but I know many people keep thinking otherwise because "she would be too scared to say so"
@Michael Belt i'm trying to reread some stuff Cedric had posted, I guess her crew surrounded one of the victims and the sheriff had to escort the victim. But yeah it is hard to find exactly what happened, I was super excited about Linkin park getting back together, i've been waiting years and at this point I think I rather go see the cover band Hybrid Theory, also I don't think there was any physically attack
yeah, i remember a number of pages ago there was some sort of conversation about evidence suggesting that she's left, and i'm not writing it off completely, but it feels like a huge stretch, and we'd obviously not get a complete answer from her regardless.
and personally, I can't just get on board with the mindset of "well maybe she left, but she is scared to say she left for these reasons" because then you could apply that mindset to literally every member of scientology and everyone gets a pass
It would be cool if the photographer connection turned out to mean that she really is pushing back against the Church and I do think it could be more notable than completely dismissing it, but I also don't take that as irrefutable proof she's in the clear and to the argument that "she can't talk about it publicly"....sorry, I personally can't give benefit of the doubt to a situation like this. I hope the best for her in truly getting out and separating from the Church though!
Now the Mike shinoda Discord comment i'm not sure the context but I do remember at this point there was major backlash about Emily and her connection with scientology and what she did at the court. So either mike refused to address those that were coming for emily for that or he's addressing them as if he sees their comments as disrespect. But i'm less sure about this.
this reads more as "people are gonna have a hard time with us replacing Chester with a female vocalist" than "people aren't gonna like that we have a Scientologist singing for us", tbh
@Michael Belt gotcha, I do think it's kind of wild that he's able to address them but has refused to comment on the other stuff, like he's obviously aware what the fans are saying. Like he has time to defend himself but be silent on some pretty major backlash.
As far as I know, the band hasn't acknowledged the scientology ties. This reply is the closest any member on their own has done so
it's irritating for sure. i think if he brings it up it opens up a can of worms for them, but honestly, that's kind of their own damn fault
I think I only recognize Badflower, i've been horrible at keeping up with what i'm assuming are newer bands lol
listening.... Dexter and the Moonrocks is fucking bizarre, this song literally sounds crafted solely for radio play Myles Smith... sounds very similar, like way too similar, this is Mumford and Hozier-core, wtf Royel Otis... was cool for 10 seconds then the vocals came in and its no longer cool. Almost Monday... this is fine I guess but sounds entirely like another band who I can't place my finger on, but its the opposite of original Badflower... you all were right, this is actually pretty nice. Chorus is a little generic but the verses are chill
