MtM was kind of a flawed experiment that allowed for something like ATS to happen. The harder song have some of Chester’s best vocal moments and they were branching out with letting Mike have a solo song and veering into anti-Bush territory. That said, it’s way too ballad heavy and has some stinkers on there, like “Valentine’s Day.”
I don’t know if it’s just nostalgia but I love Minutes To Midnight as much as Hybrid theory also Points of Authority is their best song followed by Breaking the Habit & then Papercut
I said a place for my head earlier but yeah, points of authority is probably the one. Also shoutout to Faint.
For me Hybrid Theory is still their best. Great songs from start to end. I love the electronic/ambient elements on it. Meteora is almost as good but has two songs I don't care much for (Hit the floor, Nobody's Listening) but still good. Minutes To Midnight is great until Valentine's Day and the next two songs are also weak. Their only weak album is One More Light even though it has some good songs.
I'm 37 so I grew up with albums like Hybrid Theory and knew LP were a huge band. I was looking at their spotify listener numbers, and damn 54M? For reference Blink has 21M, Green Day has 36M, Foo Fighters 20M, Fall Out boy 23M. Even Metallica has less with 26M. Is it just me or is that kind of crazy? Are they the biggest band in modern rock? How did they achieve that? Just wanted to see your opinions.
Reanimation was fucking good too. Not only the hip hop greats and the crazy remixes but having Jonathan Davis and Aaron Lewis who were arguably two of the biggest numetal vocalists of the time too....made for a very interesting album.
Aaron Lewis and Chester harmonizing together during crawling is one of my favorite moments on that album, and so is my december. I haven't listened to it much since around the time it came out but it is a great remix album.
Yeah the Aaron Lewis and Chester harmonizing is good damn beautiful. And yeah My December is one of my fav LP songs ever. I remember first hearing it on the LP Underground promo code and remember how raw and different it felt at the time.
One of my best friends messaged me to tell me she met her friend's sister's boyfriend at an engagement party last night, and they ended up in a very vocal argument because he told her he wanted Linkin Park to use AI to recreate Chester's voice going forward.
Yeah my friend is loud but not particularly confrontational and apparently the argument had to be broken up because he was being a dick about it and it was escalating haha
Honestly if you gave me the option between AI Chester or rape apologist/Scientologist I would have a hard time choosing.
I remember in kindergarten my brother woke me up cause I was singing the chorus to High voltage in my sleep. This band is very important to me
It's probably been decades since I heard the original but I remember downloading it on Kazaa among with High Voltage and other pre Hybrid Theory songs.
