Stephen and Jordan also co-wrote and co-produced the new Poppy songs too, so there's a chance they'll be all over the new album come November
Oh dang, need to check that out for sure. I've kind of fallen off on Poppy, hadn't been paying attention to her new output.
i personally really love it. it is a tad more accessible but definitely heavier. my hope is that she can still do some weird stuff even with Jordan's more conventional production style (like her Knocked Loose feature, which is probably one of my favorite moments in music this year)
Really surprised to see just how well The Emptiness Machine has been doing. Already at 80 million streams on Spotify and the video has 25 million views on Youtube. For context, Blink 182's comeback song Edging came out almost 2 years ago and still haven't hit those numbers.
Just found out my post was deleted for being "low quality". 600+ replies, nuked from existence. Someone continued the work. https://www.reddit.com/r/LinkinPark...n_park_reunion_chester_benningtons_mom_feels/
And of course people are like "It’s already been posted" when it's been deleted every time it's been posted. Bunch of fucking goddamn sheep.
Linkin Park is back, but its return has been mired in controversy Interesting article that colors in more knowledge about Emily's mother that I wasn't previously aware of.
Whaaaat, Mikes rapping is one of the best elements with the early records that became more sparingly in the later material.
Yeah I've been listening to their first two albums a lot, and they never recaptured the magic of those albums. A lot of the later stuff is just boring. Wish they would go back to that sound but they probably won't.
spotted the Lost Meteora Demos collection at my record store for like $20, but held off because it just felt too soon
I have a lot of memories blasting MtM in the spring/summer of ‘07 and while it doesn’t touch the first two it’s actually a very cool album imo. I like that it tries new things and at the time I remember a lot of LP fans hating on it.
I was biiiiiiig mad when I was 15, actually 14 going on 15 as the album was a birthday present I wanted and it came out a week before my birthday, and MtM came out and I first heard it lol, I even liked some songs from it already but hated the overall album and how it wasn't Hybrid Theory or Meteora. That was the first album that made me resent Rick Rubin too haha. Nowadays I can't say I ever go back to the album as a whole still but I'm not nearly as mad at it as I was, and it still has some cool stuff on it.
When I revisited it a couple years ago I was blown away by Leave Out All The Rest. Esp after Chester’s passing
up until OML, A Thousand Suns was the biggest risk they'd taken to move away from their earlier sound. even if not every element sticks (i.e. some of the lyricism), it's so ambitious that it really stands alone in their discography.
Hybrid Theory and Meteora are both classics and LP is arguably the best band to ever touch the nu metal genre, but unless I'm feeling nostalgic, I'd rather listen to the four albums that followed. The records from MtM through THP don't immediately date themselves, the lyricism overall is more nuanced, and Mike's rapping is notably better post-Meteora.
I've been revisiting their discography lately and I might have to change my ranking because Minutes To Midnight is blander than I remember and The Hunting Party, despite its flaws, also goes harder than I remember. Still nervous about revisiting One More Light. I'm not sure I've listened to it since 2017 and like many, I hated most of it. Friendly Fire has been stuck in my head due to the band putting it on their current setlist though. Makes me wonder if similar, better songs were left on the cutting floor during those studio sessions.
I think One More Light is good and holds up better than I remember, but I've gotta be in a certain mood for it
