Well thank God. Rolling Stone and Forbes weren't enough, but now that Charlie is on it we can finally get somewhere.
Unironically he might have a bigger influence than Rolling Stone or Forbes at this point, at least for the younger generations
It's very funny to be like "I don't know who this very popular Youtuber is, but certainly a lot of people still read Rolling Stone in 2024"
So true, I don't read Rolling Stone, Forbes or any other "big" old news sources... I get my news from here, Twitter, Reddit, or YouTubers.
I care about how many people read Rolling Stone an equal amount that I care about what random YouTuber impressionable children are following. The difference is one is an officially recognized publication and the other is... I don't know.
Charlie can have some occasionally funny moments, but every time i've seen him critique something, he usually just repeats the same things everyone else has said, but with slightly more snark and a drier monotone delivery.
I get it, but those things don't actually matter when it comes to audience size. And I'm not even saying Charlie has a bigger audience than Rolling Stone, but I think we'd all be surprised at a comparison of subscribers. The fact is, you don't have to be an "officially recognized publication" to report news anymore, for better or for worse.
This is true. I was just amused by the way it was worded, like the news has reached Charlie now, of all people. That's great. Who is Charlie? The unicorn that went to see the liopleurodon?
I’m an old man and I’ll defend Rolling Stone for its feature writers. Its recent features on Billie and Chappell I thought were really go and sadly, that kind of thing is dying.
Completely beside the point but I've been subbed to penguinz0 (Charlie) on Youtube for literally like over 10 years when he used to just play shitty games and make jokes about them and to see what he's become now is so surreal
just a shift in gears, but I always frown when I come across videos of Chester talking about his experience with depression
I relate so much to what Chester is talking about here. Even when I have things so great, my brain always tries to manipulate and convince me to feel depressed. It's a constant battle that I wouldn't wish on my worst enemy.
same set tonight in nyc except for one song. lost in the echo was swapped out for a place for my head
I know it's very conspiracy theory-ish the way people talk about Scientologists showing up to shows, or doing coverups or this and that.... but at the lower level it has actually started. The subreddit is deletes anything about scientology and is overrun with extremely positive posts about Emily, it's pretty wild. Wild enough that other subreddits that aren't monitored are noticing https://www.reddit.com/r/Music/comments/1fj8l13/linkin_park_sub_taken_over_by_scientologists/
