I’m torn about the fact that they exist with a new singer. I think, ultimately, I would have rather them gone the Rage Against the Machine route and just renamed the band. Sure, they can play songs from the Chester era, but at a certain point a singer and their lyrics are too ingrained into a band to just "get a new singer". That being said, the new single isn't bad, and the new singer seems pretty solid based off the live stream.
Emily is awesome, holy crap. I think this is a perfect move by the band and it's nice to see them back at it.
While I enjoyed the song and was pretty much sold on their choice, I have never witnessed such a fast hype-to-disgust turnaround in my entire life.
True, I've seen on twitter (and was even trending) people starting to call out Emily's problematic past with that 70s show guy and her being part of a cult.
I ok with it but I feel they should have made a slight name variation as in "Sublime with Rome", just something that signifies they want to play the old stuff but also make it feel its also a new era. Usually when a band comes back after a long break I'm only wanting to hear the old stuff, but in this case with the new singer I'm much more excited to hear the new songs they can make together..
Can’t imagine anyone else doing the Chester vocals. New single isn’t super intriguing to me either but maybe hardcore fans will enjoy it.
Linkin PAC or L. Park Hubbard. That’s all I’ve got - Someone can do better. If she’s turned her back on Scientology then fine, but if she’s still on board then it’s a strange move given their views on mental health when you think of Chester Bennington. The whole Danny Masterson thing though… minefield. Was she supporting a rapist / fellow cult member or was she supporting a friend whom she couldn’t believe was capable of such things (pre-conviction). Either way - they probably could have seen this coming.
I enjoy her voice. But wait you’re telling me Chester who struggled with mental health issues and took his own life is being replaced by a women who’s a Scientologist who doesn’t believe in depression or mental health struggles. this move will blow up in their face and I love it. Glad rob got out of this shit. What a slap in the face or Chester, Mike just sees $$$ greed has taken over that’s why their also keeping the name linkin park. That name sells some new band name means nothing.
I feel like she's going to be in and out fast. This whole thing feels like they want to be a band, but are still traumatized by what happened. I have no issue with them continuing, wanting to be a band, have a new singer, at all. Also her very messy association with Scientology and Danny Masterson is bad news. I honestly feel like Mike and Co. missed some things with this one. Almost wish the Lizzy Hale rumors were true now.
Yep, that's a great synopsis. I'm sure they did. But they ultimately decided she was still for the best of the band, and they figure people will be won over.
It’s almost like she’s using the masterson stuff to avoid talking about her association with Scientology lol
She followed him on IG until that day, and also this "apology" just talks about his actions, no mentioning of Scientology.
Chester Bennington's Son Slams Linkin Park for Emily Armstrong Addition This kind of says enough for me to know how to feel right now.
Hated the last album and enjoyed the new song so at least happy to get to like something LP related again.
