This is better than the song that they hyped up as the "best song" they've ever made.. but Mike's part still feels forced. Definitely prefer the more aggro-LP songs.
Maybe it's because I didn't listen to much Linkin Park post-Meteora, but...this just feels really neutered, to @spencpants point above. I'm not saying all LP needs to be angsty and all, but this song doesn't move me whatsoever. And this is coming from someone who didn't hate the new album. (Although after a handful of listens, it just feels safe, to a fault, which makes sense for a return but still.)
I kinda wish they did more with the One More Light sound on this new stuff. I also wonder if there’s any other material with Chester. What they’ve alread released is special.
The aggression and speed of casualty and the melodic vocals on emptiness machine is the combo I would want from them if I could envision an ideal album. They’re off to a good start but it would be cool to just double down on that stuff.
Not a bad track. I agree with the other comments that it feels "safe." We need more screams in there. I like the Mike parts.
