I take that back... There were a lot of guys in the lawn with Lil Wayne, hitting each other (drunkenly) and i got a bit concerned....
I dont think I had heard the term prior, but I sense the negative connotation with it - as Im from a different generation (damn kids... lawn... shotgun) But it fits my stereotypical view of what group the guys in front of me fit.... In the days,, Id have said they were 'dumb jocks'.
You are absolutely crazy if you think ATL is on the same level as ADTR right now. It’s not even close. ADTR has had much better success lately with album sales (they have the same amount of gold certified records as ATL does, FYI), much more success on rock radio (something ATL desperately tried but never quite broke through on pop radio), and their tours do way better. Last summer ATL had trouble selling their tour w/ Dashboard — this summer ADTR routinely sold out their summer tour with knocked loose and boston manor (two bands not even close to the size of dashboard) AND did it in bigger venues
To be fair, All Time Low touring with Dashboard in 2018 is pretty close to ADTR touring with Knocked Loose considering Dashboard hadn't had a new record in almost 10 years. I'd be surprised if most All Time Low fans have any idea who Dashboard Confessional is in 2019.
Dashboard is most definitely s bigger band than Knocked Loose. Even if you put those two on the same level, ATL/Dashboard announced they were playing st Express Live outdoors here in Columbus (a 4500 cap venue or so), but they downsized it to the indoors part of the venue (around 2200 cap) and still didn’t sell it out. That ADTR tour sold out the outdoors part of the venue in advance haha. There’s no argument who the bigger band is
Your average All Time Low fan probably only knows Chris Carrabba because he sang on a Neck Deep song. Say your average All Time Low fan is...25? I’m maybe being generous there, but before last year, his last record came when they were probably in 8th grade and they were in 1st or 2nd when A Mark, A Mission was out.
Im 50, and I know who dashboard confessional is. Well, kind of. OK. Ive heard of the name, and probably know the one radio song if someone tells me the name.
He had a new CD last year and it was great and a single that did quite well (sounded like chainsmokers though)
