I feel like with all the talk of “snoozy pop records” this year, this ones gonna be the standout at not that hahah half of its definitely got a moodier tone, but I think it’s paced better than any pop record this year off the top of my head.
I'm in the camp that Old Town Road was very much not my thing so I never bothered to check out his other stuff before, but this album is really cool and was not expecting this
That "insensitive fake pregnancy vs anti-blackness" discourse is an example of why choosing battles is important and a reminder that it's literally impossible to not irk somebody regardless of how smart and empathetic you are, especially in a country like the US. imho best case scenario is minimizing harm as much as possible, apologizing if necessary and forgive/forget when applicable. Anywho, this is an album I've been waiting my entire teen and adult life so far to hear - Nas X is an empowered gay rapper with a surplus of songwriting talent, amazing visuals that elevate gay and bi perspective beyond what generations of low budgets and gatekeeping could restrain, and a sharp sense of humor that's a healthy fuck you to everyone laughing at gay stereotypes for so many years. We could be seeing the emergence of a seminal artist, the impact of which will be exciting to witness.
I am digging this album a lot. Glad I decided to listen as it's not my thing at all. He sings really well. I'll definitely spend some more time with this.
I’m having trouble listening to this album because I just wanna listen to industry baby and that’s what I want on repeat
i would like to rephrase this statement Montero through that’s what I want is a perfect run and everyone needs to take notes on how to write a perfect song
