Surprised how much this is underperforming. Was projected at 70-80 million, but it’s on track for 55. Coming in second behind Jurassic World
Apparently the kiss is in the movie? I’m so confused by this. For those who’ve seen it, is this a still from the film?
I’m now questioning if I blinked and missed it. The scene where they move closer and it cuts is not that one. The shot looks familiar though. I’m gonna go with that it’s in it and it’s so fast I somehow missed it.
I recall the banner and even the kid grown up in uniform. I feel like I was focused on reading the banner and just totally missed the kiss.
Yeah it’s strange, all I can find on Twitter are the usual complaints from rightwing people who clearly haven’t even watched the movie and are just review bombing because it’s the latest Dr. Seuss nonsense trend, and the rest are people saying it’s a one second kiss with no context. Now I feel like when I do go see it I’m going to be staring at the screen like one of those Magic Eye books. “Do you see the kiss, kids? Keep looking!”
I'm just gonna repost this because it more or less sums up my thoughts now that we know what the scene is. I'm not surprised it's only a split second, because these assholes are scanning media for any possible thing for them to be outraged about. Even if it was a random event in the background, they'd be furiously typing away on... well, I guess Trump Social or whatever now, but they'd be on there spewing bile and venom, because they're as petty as they are vile.
Kiss was indeed in my screening. Saw it yesterday, thought it was a fine sci-fi romp. I still think all the Lightyear stuff can be explained away as: "Pixar wanted to make a sci-fi adventure movie. Disney wanted a sequel out of them. This was how they made it work." Don't do any other mental gymnastics and enjoy a fun romp with some good solid emotional beats, great voice acting, and gorgeous animation.
maybe not that surprising, since disney seemed to miscalculate what people love about toy story with this release
