I truly will never understand why they couldn't have just said "Lightyear is a more grounded take on Buzz's mythology". This whole story about it being about the real person the toy was based on makes no sense at all and is just bizarre.

Pete Doctor straight up said when they announced the movie "when we were making Toy Story we imagined Buzz as being a toy based off a character from some fantastic science fiction film, we are now ready to show you that film"

Stop with the "he's supposed to be based on a real person" stuff.

Excited for this. Can't wait to see Pixar unleash their animation greatness on a sci-fi romp. Even if it had to have a Toy Story reference to be made.
