Hahahahahahaha I swear I made that post before I saw this https://www.worldofreel.com/blog/cwpt4b84a0geai0nno95vp9659bhoq
I finally got around to seeing this and damn I thought it was pretty disappointing. There are some great scenes which is as expected in any PTA film but overall it wasn’t for me. The age gap thing really did bother me, I think the story just wasn’t for me at all. Also am I reading it wrong or does the film try to compare being attracted to the same sex with being attracted to a 15 year old? It seems like she came to the realization she was going to go for it with a kid only after seeing a gay couple struggle to be together. That’s a really idiotic comparison if so.
I always read that as her disgust with the dubious morality of the "adult world". She is always going through this push and pull of wanting to continue being carefree like a teenager while also wanting to be taken seriously as an adult. A month after the film's plot ends she has probably moved on to another grown-up endeavor.
Just watched this for like 4th full time. It's easily climbed nto my all time favorites list. I'm all about vibe and this is as perfect as it gets. Its funny, interesting, charming, off putting, and its all a feeling. Alana and hoffmann are an all time pairing Underrated hilarious scene is alana with the agent lady. The lady is so fucking funny
putting it in spoilers since people are dumb about this kind of thing seems likely it’s another pynchon adaptation, this time vineland
The only details released about the movie is it’s a contemporary setting and “his most commercial” movie, so I don’t think that’s it.
it’s on letterboxd and details came out he was planning to adapt the book like two years ago based on character descriptions of the book and the names announced today, it seems likely
