LGBTQIA+ Thread

I realise there is an LGBTQIA+ Right and Discussions thread in Politics, but I feel like having one in General is beneficial, for more day to day chats and posts. If people don't think it's needed please lock or delete of whatever.

Welcome my fellow LGBTQIA+ people and everyone else :) first comes the alphabet, then the world.

 

the english alphabet only has 26 letters and, frankly, that is not enough to contain us. Numbers better watch their backs

Awesome idea. I think that this should definitely be a positive vibe thread — like a place to talk about life, issues, common struggles, things like that. But not one that is filled with like news of bad and awful stuff happening, you know? I think that sort of stuff can/should go in the politics forum or a specific thread in there for it.

Because I know, personally, sometimes I just really want an escape from the awful.

Agreed! I liked the PL thread but it was rather dead, much like the rest of that forum. A nice inclusive place here in General seemed the best idea to me. A "Community" thread if you will.

 

yeah it was :( i wanted to try to revive it, which is why those threads were made, but ah well haha

 

the new foxing video made me feel so happy to see something other than a heterosexual love triangle get depicted in that way.

 

Bare is on Netflix (starring Dianna Agron, written and directed by two LGBTQA+ women). I really loved it. It's kind of a niche film and I don't think it's necessarily for everyone, but I highly recommend it.

 

Concussion (2013) is another film on Netflix. It's about a lesbian housewife who is bored with the routine of her marriage.
I honestly recommend not reading that spoiler, or watching the trailer, but I thought I'd be helpful and put them in. It's got mixed reviews on RT and metacritic but I really really enjoyed it, it's a well shot, brilliantly acted film starring Robin Weigert of Jessica Jones.

Would it be a good idead to get like a list of great LGBTQIA+ media or websites etc. to add to the OP?

 

We could also do an LGBTQA+ TV/Film thread in Entertainment. Because there are so few characters and movies dedicated to it that the OP wouldn't be terribly long :sips tea:

story time. went out with a boy last year some time for a couple of good dates, then he dropped off the face of the earth. we started talking again like 2 months later and went for another date and it was ehhhhhh. on that date we went to a gay club and within like 5 minutes some other guy came up to us and started talking and basically asked if we wanted a threesome, I said no because i am a delicate little flower. he did not. so yeah that was super awkies . but it was decent. not amazing like but we basically have barely talked since then. so this week he texts me like do you wanna go out and grab a drink. and he's just after fbing me there. thing is i think he's v cute but i mean it's fucked up the way we've interacted the last year or so like. idk what to do. I don't think I want to see him again but like I think i should give him the benefit of the doubt

 

You don't owe him the benefit of the doubt. If you are leaning towards not wanting to see him again, I think you should probably trust your gut and decline.

 

Yeah I agree and say trust your gut and trust the way you're learning. I've had a person in the past who interacted with me in a similar way and it boiled down to them only talking to me when they were bored or just wanted a quick date or two. Not saying that's what he is doing to you, but for me personally it never turned into anything substantial or worthwhile when someone interacts in such a way.
