I agree. Haven't had a chance to listen to the whole thing yet but I've enjoyed all the songs so far and am usually not too harsh on albums compared to others, I'd be surprised if I outright hate it... and in any case I don't think I'd be able to make that judgement immediately. We'll see.
the end of another offensive song is like..the only highlight. i really can't remember being initially this disappointed about an album i need to go listen to fake history to wash out my ears.
It's pretty remarkable that a LQ leak of this sounds worlds better production wise than TBB, which still sounds like garbage even in FLAC format. Record isn't that good, but whatever, we've had other better records I could be listening to this week anyway.
I love Fake History, but idk why I never go back to it. I guess I burned myself out on this band when I got really into them in 2013. Don't think I've listened to TBB from start to finish since 2013 either. Disappointed with the singles and that it seems like I won't enjoy this either. Jason Butler seems like a stand up guy. It's too bad his band went from one I was ride or die for to one I rarely give a thought to anymore.
This is probably the biggest problem.... like "A Weak Ago" has a cool riff, but it can't sustain itself as the song's ONLY riff
I thought they said this record was going to have a lot of soul/r&b/punk influence? It's alright though, if only because of my big soft spot for the band.
I'm 4 songs in so far and I'm really enjoying it. It's definitely different, but so far, I'm into it.
Kinda nervous to listen to the new album. FH was one of my favorite album ever and I'm afraid to be let down. Gave the singles a listen and nothing is hitting me the same way anything off FH or even TBB did. Obviously I still love this band but I'm happy I didn't drop any money on a pre-order.
2nd listenwas a lot better but i still have major gripes with this. they really shit the bed on the closer...just think, day 54, 27 club...and then copper colored quiet. blekh. i like it better when they rage out and drop the mic vs a faux orchestral whimper.
I almost want to pretend letlive. didn't release an album this year. Holy shit. What a disappointment.
I am really shocked that people aren't liking this. I am a huge fan all the way around though. It isn't their best, but it's still a great album.
Ok just got through it Yeah, I see what they were trying to do with it with being more diverse and such but it mostly falls flat. Although A Weak Ago actually surprised me with how much I enjoyed it, probably my fav on the album. And I still like Another Offensive Song even though it's greatly hated here. Foreign Cab Rides was interesting in a few places, and same with the title track. But overall, yeah it seems like they wanted to rely mostly on Jason's vocals and seemed a bit uninspired with the instrumentals. It's too bad, I hope next record they decide to bring a bit more edge back. Or even if they don't, work on their instrumentals more in combination with Jason's vocals.
This is a very sad reaction to a band I love and I know are extremely talented. I haven't listened to it yet, but reading this thread is just a bummer.
I'm sure the album will do fine and it'll find a fan base (Wonder Years fans?). But I find it boring and uninspired. It really seems like a side project for Jason.
