I revisited some songs off it recently and they're not as awful as I remember but it's still a huge step down from TBB and FH. Some of the songs feel very unfinished and rushed. I believe there's the roots of a good album in there but overall it's a very uninspiring listen
A lot of people on here (including myself) weren't particularly keen. I thought it was full of promise that unfortunately wasn't developed in the way it could've been. I did see a fair amount of people outside of this forum who loved it so I don't know...
I know it's personal taste but I don't know how people think it's a step down. Yeah it's not as aggressive and has a fairly different sound (which I guess can be off putting) but I think it's still up there with the other 2 albums quality wise. I guess it just comes down to what people wanted from that band being different from what the band wanted.
i saw a lot of people that liked it try to say "just because they arent heavy doesnt mean they arent good" which is a cop out because i dont think the people that disliked it felt that way for that reason. it just felt like subpar songwriting. im cool with bands going softer, i just felt like the songwriting wasnt as good as TBB.
I guess I get that. Personally I really like it, I would say it tails off a little towards the end and I probably would put it last out of that 3 album run. I do think it has some of their best work on it though.
I'd say Who You Are Not & Reluctantly Dead could go up against some of the best tracks on the other two for sure. The vocals on WYAN are just incredible.
Out of curiosity would you guys rank TBB above FH or below it? I'd put them TBB>FH>IITD but there wouldn't be much between any of them for me.
Wyan has amazing verses but everything else about that song is 0/10. I'm all fairness, it is a meh, whatever album until you get to the last 4 tracks which have absolutely nothing of value in them, imo.
Haha, fair, but I appreciate the interesting "bad" production of TBB a lot more than the really boring Rise Records-core production on FH
reluctantly dead is better, something is just off between the music and vocals though. who produced this?
Another Offensive Song is the defining point of my disappointment with IITD. It initially feels like a breath of fresh air, despite the fact that it sounds like it's been shoved in with no regard for the rest of the album. That is until the chorus, which is actually one of the worst things on the whole record.
I love FH and TBB, and like IITD. That being said I haven't listened to the latter in quite some time.
this is 100% true. that chorus is so awful, but i always stick around with it cause the ending is the best part on the album
Exactly my thoughts when I heard that song. Heard the riff and was like "YES a song I like so far!", then the chorus hits and I'm just left feeling empty
What is Jason even doing with his voice there? He sounds off on a lot of choruses on Fh, but that's just weiiiiird
He sounds different on We the Pros of Con, H. Ledger, and Over Being Under. Sounds like 3 different singers to me, or like he's putting on a weird voice.
