I get that, and I think "bigger" drum parts wouldn't work for IITD. But there's also like no subtlety to it as is either.
I've only listened to the album two or three times, but Loniel does some impressive work on Nu Romantics and A Week Ago. If you think otherwise, I don't know what to tell you
Damn this sucks. Seen these guys a few times at warped and when they opened for TBS and loved Fake History & The Blackest Beautiful. It'd be such a waste of talent for Jason to stop making music. That guy has the potential to be huge imo.
You are definitely right about Nu Romantics, at least in the verses, credit where it's due. Jeff also has cool parts there too, but they're too loud. he also takes care of Foreign cab rides, which I think is the only song where everything went right
I just gave a listen to Nu Romantics and A Week Ago and I will definitely stand by my thoughts A Week Ago. Loniel absolutely drives that song. I'm interested in giving the album another listen so maybe I'll come back here this weekend with some thoughts, but I'll listen around where I can. Loniel is a super talented guy and he shows it on this album
His fill coming off the intro into the verses is pretty fine, I guess. Excited to hear more. Honestly it's probably a 5-6/10 until the last 4 songs come on, which I think are thoroughly terrible.
This is such a shame. I liked the new album but Fake History is definitely their best work. Echo the hopes that Jason continues to put music out because he's got such a great voice and I really like how blunt a lot of his lyrics are.
I had the pleasure of seeing letlive. 8 times and I can honestly say they're the humblest group of guys I've ever met. I was able to speak with Jason a handful of times over the years and he was always so grateful to speak with fans. They will truly be missed. This is like The Chariot breaking up alllll over again.
I'm terrible with recommendations but to me the first two bands that come to mind are Night Verses and The Ongoing Concept. Still bumming pretty hard about the official announcement and lack of farewell tour. Blasting their music all night for my neighbors to enjoy.
lack of farewell tour is pretty weird and makes me think of bad breakups like At The Drive In hopefully they can rekindle their musical friendships, or get back their old line up together in a few years. i mean, Fake History has its ten year anniversary in 2020 already. would be a missed opportunity if they don't catch up on that
not surprised, they had a good run and the singer's voice seemed to become shot these past few years.
Wow the album really did kill them Nah but in all seriousness that sucks and while their newest album was a bit of a letdown it still had some stuff to it and they could have kept going. Fake History still among my top post-hardcore albums.
