I don't think songs like Elephant, Copper Colored Quiet, or Another Offensive Song, to name a few more obvious examples, come off as thought-out at all. There's not much to unpack from them, which is a bummer for me. Hence gutless.
Hey if you don't get much out of those songs I don't blame you. Gutless just doesn't make sense to me. Different strokes and all that
I would be interested to know how the new songs sound live. It might help me enjoy the record a bit more.
Seeing them tomorrow in stl, excited to hear the new songs. I know it'll be heavy on IITD and TBB but how many songs are they playing from FH?
They actually play the most from TBB. letlive. Setlist at The Crofoot, Pontiac This was the same here in MN. Too bad there is no Casino but oh well.
fake history came up on shuffle today and bummed me out hard. these guys had lightning in a bottle once.. then took a nose dive into a sea of mediocrity
nah, The Blackest Beautiful was a great step towards the middle while also retaining most of the stuff that made them special. The new album, yeah.
The Blackest Beautiful would've been better than Fake History had the production been competent. The new album still really bums me out. I was expecting AOTY material and instead got 'Biggest disappointment of the year' material.
I prefer BB to FH hard. And this new one is garbage. If anyone wants a black/white/red splatter with a poster, hmu
I love the hell out of FH, BB, and IITD. All great albums in their own right, but FH takes the cake overall.
FH was a very captivating album for me upon it's release. I remeber I saw the review on AP, and bought it shortly after. I had the best car ride home while listening to it.
i think fake history also came out at a time, from what i can tell, a lot of people my age were kind of falling out of "the scene" or whatever. that record came out and it was like a shot of energy, their live show was so intense and cool, and everything around that time was great. it really was lightning in a bottle.
IITD getting this much hate makes me sad... I think they tried something different and while it didn't work 100% of the time, it spotlighted different strengths of the band than before and put Jason center stage. I think the lyrics and vocals are some of his most poignant.
I don't hate it, I just think it's a steaming pile of mediocrity from what feels like an entirely different band Not that different isn't cool ya know I'm all up for bands expanding their sound but not when the songs that are produced from that sonic shift are just so bland, predictable and forgettable letlive. proved on tbb and fh that they were perfectly capable of writing catchy and interesting poppy tracks with strong vocal melodies and this album has none of those things I want them to come back strong but for the mo imma just stick to the first two albums and forget this one exists again ty
I think they tried something bad and it was bad and it was very bad. Lyrics are bad, songs are bad. In this day and age where so many people can put themselves out there and there's so much to behold, mediocrity is the new bad. And this record was very mediocre and complacent, so it is very bad.
