Listened to the album a few more times. It is not what I expected but I like Jason's vocals alot on this album, I think they shine on this album. It could of been more interesting instrumentally.
Not quite. As I said, I have no problem with people liking this album. If however, the press start going all "they're the most exciting band in the world, look at the wonderful innovation on this record, look how masterfully they've evolved etc etc" then yes, they're wrong.
Really couldn't care less if critics laude this album. Even if I don't like it and don't think it deserves the acclaim I believe these individual people do. I'm a fan of Jason's so I wish he and his band all the success they can get.
I mean... Those are all opinions one may have about their new direction... I get that you don't feel that way about the record but dismissing others evaluations of it doesn't exactly seem fair.
If it's my firm opinion then of course it's fair that I think they're wrong. I'm not saying they would have no right to think that, I'm just saying I think they would be wrong to do so.
I like a couple songs on here but for the most part I find a lot of the songs just get on my nerves. Definitely a lot of potential in this album to be something great but a lot of it just falls flat - I can deal with a style change and I think they could've made something awesome out of this sound but the barrage of weak choruses, boring drumming, guitar work and really fuckin repetitive songwriting, typically things that have been strengths on prior albums and as such what I've come to expect from this band, just pissed me off to the extent that I don't particularly want to listen to anything off this but a few choice cuts
Really disappointing album on first listen. I can see what they were going for, but man pretty much all of these tracks fall flat for me.
That was an autocorrect to "trashy". Definitely don't think the new album is trashy. But right now I can't remember what I was trying to type.
I think's that my favourite song on here. I don't like the way the bridge goes back into the chorus - it feels completely unearned - but apart from that, I do like that track.
So I'm scared for this record because I haven't really loved anything I've heard from or about it yet, but this honestly makes me feel better. Versus ruled and 131 is shaping up to be incredible. Anyway, I'm throwing a listening party tomorrow evening. My friends/brothers unanimously agree that TBB is their best record and that these new songs aren't scratching an even remotely similar itch to what previous music did. Hesitantly excited to hear this, I hope I don't regret ordering the vinyl.
There's definitely some Emarosa vibes in that song. Overall this album is definitely a BIG change of pace for letlive, but I think there's a good chance you'll like it if you go in with an open mind. It focuses on different elements of their sound, but I think it works.
It's those two plus 'Who You Are Not' and 'A Weak Ago' that are my favourites (although the latter I'm already going off).
Only made it about halfway through the album earlier, and I was disappointed with everything expect the first song. I'll give it another go later.
So a few songs in I've noticed two things that I'm sure others can relate to, if compared to Fake History or TBB im not loving it but if seen as its own thing not related to earlier material it's good stuff.
