Is This Thing On does indeed rule I'm going to be honest the only songs off B&B I can recall are Magnetic North, Gainesville Rock City, that one, and the superior version of Look What Happened
What about Last Hour of the Last Day At Work? That and those you mentioned are the main tracks I listen to from the album.
Borders was the first album I ever got into. My brother got a copy from his friends when he was 18 and I was 10 - now 22 years ago. I was fuckin hooked and it kicked off a large (probably unhealthy) obsession with LTJ as a kid, and was the gateway into ska/punk/hardcore etc etc. We actually got it around this time of year so the nostalgia now hits hard, always gets lots of spins between Halloween and Xmas. His friends who gave him the CD ended up becoming my friends also, maybe 9/10 years later, through playing in bands, going to shows and shit. We sometimes talk about how that CD gave me much of my taste. Feels good that its come full circle. Still love LTJ even tho the new stuff suffers a bit.
The first saw them was at a KOME radio christmas show right after Hello Rockview came out. At the end they were throwing out cards to join the less than jake fan club
Seeing em tonight for the first time in 22 years! 2k venue sold out, same one I saw them at last time.
Gig last week felt special. From the opening of Nervous in the Alley with everyone singing the horn line to the circle pit during Gainsville Rock City at the close, the sheer fun of the gig was incredible and surpassed my expectations. Crowd had such great energy throughout, way more than I've seen gigs recently with crowds of a similar age at early 00s-broad scene band gigs. Came away from this one feeling in good spirits for the next week. It's a testament to their hard work that they are selling out 2k + venues in the UK without ever taking a long break from playing here, or it being a reunion show, or without having a true hit from the peak commercial era. Often forget how long I've been listening to them, definitely over 25 years now. Hearing 9th and Pine and History of a Boring Town took me so far back. Hopefully they'll continue their pattern and be back here within another couple of years.
There were a few songs on their most recent EP that were solid LTJ. Silver Linings was rough...hoping they release something in line with those EP songs.
Oh, fuck! Hey-Smith is one of the better younger bands doing it. Great to see this coming up... And really hoping it gets a vinyl release in the US.
It is… https://www.reddit.com/r/VinylRelea...less_than_jakeheysmith_split_unity_ep_beer_w/ But it ships in October
Silver Linings is probably ny least favorite LTJ record, but I really enjoyed Uncharted. Thought it was a very solid return to form.
