The Game Boy Lego is available on amazon and will ship when purchased. Bought mine yesterday and will be arriving tomorrow even though the street date release isn’t until Wednesday

It is an amazing set. I don't even have a ton of sentimentality for the Gameboy as I only had one for a few years but it’s still awesome and the built itself is amazing and genius and the size of the build literally matches the actual thing (same with the games).

I was able to find this at my local Costco, seems they’ve had these out for around a week from other posts I’ve seen but the first time I found a new set early

New Smart Brick system seems really bad. Probably could have forgiven some of the smaller issues like the sounds not being actual Star Wars sounds, but they really butchered the design of most of the builds for the sake of these bricks.

Yeah, for as much time and money they put into this light brick idea it somehow still seems very half- assed. The builds look strange for the most part, you can’t “hide” the brick in a build, the sounds are generic, the cost of the sets is pretty crazy. Idk, I get what they were going for but seems like a rough start to the launch. Maybe used with some non-licensed sets will make it better to incorporate.

Lego announced their Pokemon lineup. Pretty annoyed that the only set I'm interested in (kanto badge collection) is a GWP and only available to those that buy the $650 set. Like, that could have easily been sold for $70 as a standalone. Now I'll have to rely on scalpers on eBay for probably $200 just to get a set that should only be $50-$70.

The Pikachu set looks so funny/bad

set for $650 is hilariously overpriced but will sell thousands because it’s Pokémon

not doing minifigures for Pokémon seems so dumb. Such an easy move but having everything always be brick built is a strange move - just like the horrible Mario figure builds vs having minifigures. Nintendo keep staying weird

At least the Zelda sets are normal and have minifigures

Oh yeah that’s right lol so weird how Nintendo is ok with minifigs for the Zelda set but apparently won’t allow it for Mario and Pokémon.

I can definitely see a scenario where they come out with minifigure style Pokemon in a Phase 2 just based on the need to make new molds and some complicated builds for that scale to make them actually look like the Pokemon. The upcoming animal CMF may be a test run for that style since they can get away with an ok CMF animal, but not a Pikachu minifig.

idk how to link shit to Reddit but there is a video on the LegoLeaks sub that the pictures are from. Crazy to see it in a video and see all sides of it and other details. Fucking huge (which makes sense for being 8000+ pieces)

I don't think I'll get this set day one but I'll definitely pick it up by the end of the year. I'll need to get a new display case for my LEGOs too because this set looks too big

How did I miss this thread?!

Minas Tirith looks great! I think they struck a nice balance between making it a great display piece but also more than a microfig scale set like they sometimes have with others. It's a definite day one buy for me. Do I currently have enough display space? No comment...
