I'm not sure their catalog has a run anywhere as good as "Gallows Pole"-"Tangerine"-"That's the Way".
Tangerine was the first song I learned on guitar so I’ll always have a soft spot for it. The Rain Song and Ten Years Gone are up there too. I remember ruining my dad’s Houses of the Holy tape always trying to rewind to The Rain Song.
I like that someone said they skip "Stairway" and another said they hate "Immigrant Song", but this is the controversial one. Haha
Today is the 45th birthday of Houses of the Holy and I also happened to finish that up today. Minus The Crunge, which I think is pretty bad, it might be my favorite record so far.
I'm with you guys, the song feels like it just barely works, but I can see where someone wouldn't dig it.
Physical Graffiti is my favorite. But, honestly, they're all great or good albums (for the most part).
One thing I wish they did more of was full-on funky stuff. Like "Trampled Underfoot" just stomps. But there isn't a ton like that.
