  1. Also it’s so like a nationalist doomsday prepper to spend years stocking up for the apocalyptic event of a lifetime only to be too dumb to consider using the multi million dollar bunker that he knows exists when the event happens

  2. Enjoyed this very much.

E-corp laptops, Kevin Bacon is buying the E-Corp branded 5/9 prepper kits from the show in his first scene, when the daughter is pushing the idea it's power plant hackers she mentions "that thing that those guys did at that nuclear plant in Jersey" is the Dark Army's "project", and Julia Roberts is reading Beach Towel, Irving's novel

  10. If the world was ending and I was 14 watching the Friends finale probably would’ve been my no. 1 priority

I knew exactly how the movie was going to end when I read the title of the last chapter. And I was all for it.

Also, I hadn't heard about this movie before watching it. I just saw the oil tanker teaser when putting on Netflix so I was intrigued. The opening scene felt verrrry familiar, so when I read Sam Esmail at the end of the credits, I laughed because it made sense.

Forgot to report back. This will go down as the most frustrating viewing experience I’ve had in 2023 lol. It just wasn’t for me.

    Thought this was awesome
Felt gripped throughout wanting to know what was going on, I love a slow burn like that

Read about the ending and now I can never watch this. Julia Roberts was literally in an episode of Friends!

  17. Found the first half really gripping and the second half kind of bogged down by feeling more like the characters reading Esmail's manifesto than having any kind of actual human dialogue, but I really liked the final scene.

The teeth scene grossed me out.

Yeah me and my fiance both looked at each other, shouted "what the fuck!?" and were in agreement that it ruined the movie. Just a gluttonous, selfish daughter gorging herself on food and watching TV while she hears her mother crying for her. What a piece of shit kid.

But her actions are also based on the fact that her parents and mainly her mother treated her like a small child even though she was thirteen. She is brushed off and treated with kid gloves the entire movie and kept in the dark as much as possible about what is going on around them. I can see where some of that that selfishness was crafted from.

I think this was the worst movie I’ve seen this year. Hot trash, somehow a worse apocalypse movie than Don’t Look Up.

Could she hear them? I didn't pick up on that when viewing. Also, I thought it was a good example of how the simplest and purist intentions can save you.

I hated the movie but this doesn’t feel like the correct reading of the end imo. I think the above comment is more correct. Ie during the pandemic it was food, booze, physical media and art that were our comforts, I’m pretty sure that’s what Esmail is going for
