Super interesting track, don't love it right away but I really like how different it is from CHVRCHES, will have to listen a few more times for it to sink in
Similar boat - I am not sure if I really like it, but it was definitely interesting. Both songs so far have been quite different but I can see them fitting on the same album, which is in and of itself impressive.
I never got into Frightened Rabbit, so this tribute album cover song Lauren sings on went under my radar. Having a male harmony besides Martin under her vocals was a nice change of pace, as is hearing her on a guitar-based song. The arrangement is great, as well. In case anyone else is in my boat:
I'd been trying to keep the singles fresh for the album, and not listen much. So they were pretty new sounding when I just listened again. I still like AYA? a lot, the chorus falsettos are so nice. But my opinion on Shame has changed a lot - it is a goddamn jam. Whatever needed to click seems to have clicked for me. It's the perfect length for the song, and could be made even better depending on its album placement.
Had fun at the solo show back in September, but I feel like she’s brought out the three weakest songs from that set as singles.
Interesting tidbit on the AMA - she toured because DCFC/TPS came in with the offer for opening on the few tour dates so she toured without expectation of an album coming soon.
