Between this and The Menzingers' From Exile it has been a great week of acoustic releases.

 

Thought the Mountain Song was one of my least favorites at first but now it's up there with my favorites.

Please Leave and the Magic Point currently round out my top 3

Solid release. Always down for some LJG but probably not something I’ll come back to a lot.

 

This is very enjoyable. Not sure how much I’ll come back to it but it will tide me over until the next AM! record.

Separately I enjoy all the Chicago references that LJG has thrown in on her last couple albums. South wind coming up Western. I know that feeling.

 

The Chicago love (and hate) has been a lot of fun, but I for one would not describe the wind on western as something I appreciate about the city the way she did in one of the interviews.

 

I’ve been playing this pretty nonstop though.

Please Leave (“how can I convince you to leaaaave”) and The Magic Point (“drive north on LSD”) have been switching back and forth in my head since yesterday morning

This album's shorter length leaves me wanting more (in between multiple replays), so I've been really into Devouring Mothers again too. Kind of forgot about for a while there but now I can't get these songs out of my head. Could just be me but I feel like she has a decent amount of song where the hooks aren't immediate, but then when they hit they hit.
