worst edgar wright film imo. the majority of this was remarkable, and the outstanding stylistic choices that are perhaps expected by wright at this point make themselves known as well, but things go off the rails every once in a while (and even more in the final 15 or so minutes) and i kind of hate how things are handled with the film’s single nonwhite character (nothing like THAT, don’t worry!) thomasin and anya alone make this worth a watch. if this sounds like i’m let down in any way it’s because some aspects held the movie back from being even better than it was. but it’s still more than good enough to make me look forward to what edgar tries to do next in this genre, especially with a bit more focus
Doing exactly this tonight, very pumped about it, never experienced Dolby Cinema before. That poster is very cool also
Agreed, this thing is a total blast start to finish. The first ‘60s sequence is ridiculously beautiful and fun, as is the murder scene in a very different way. I don’t know where I’d rank it in Wright’s filmography, it’s so different than anything he’s done that it’s tough to compare, but I had high expectations and was definitely not let down.
Do it! It’s such a big upgrade. Cause of A List, I see virtually everything in Dolby, and recently that wasn’t available to me for NTTD, so I saw that on a smaller screen and I was flabbergasted at how small the screen was.
I don't think I've got a theater that does Dolby near me which is a bummer, but I am beyond excited to see this tomorrow. Managed to completely avoid trailers, going in totally blind.
I kind of agree. The love interest and Terrence Stamp were stuck with some clunky ass dialogue and really didn't add much to the story. Wright does seem to lose the plot several times throughout and really hammers the point over and over about what the movie is about. But the acting was definitely great. What a way for Diana Rigg to go out.
