That is FAR too kind to Airport 1975. Haha. I have a soft spot for some of the disaster movies (I legit love The Towering Inferno) and am an apologist for the first Airport, but that movie is LAME.

Probably and I can see its many flaws but I didn't hate my time watching it, I find a film like that which is inoffensive hard to hate on haha.

When Heston gets out the zipline I actually let out an audible groan at my TV.

Like I said, I know its flaws are numerous (I laughed out loud at the special effects just before the mid-air collision) but I neither was bored or hated my time watching it.

In its defense, it's about as good as Earthquake which got a lot of undeserved praise. About the best I can say. Haha

That film is depressing as hell, far darker than people give it credit for but like the first two Airport films not classics of the genre. The Towering Inferno and The Poseidon Adventure are unbeatable.

Also one of the more competent, but hard for me to like much due to an Earthquake-ian bleakness: The Hindenberg.

Yet to see that one but I have heard that pacing wise it is painfully slow.

It can drag a bit, but it's one of the better-made ones.

I feel like once I see The Swarm, When Time Ran Out, Two Minute Warning and maaaaaybe the last Airport, I can probably put the 70s disaster sub-genre to bed.

Will give it a shot then and yet to see the first three you mentioned but not hard great things about either. Use this Disaster film - Wikipedia to see if you have missed any others, I read about several I hadn't heard of but sadly are hard to find.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes* - 9.5/10
War for the Planet of the Apes - 10/10
    Dunkirk - 7/10
    A Monster Calls - 8/10
Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets - 8/10
    American Gangster - 6.5/10
    Changing Lanes - 7.5/10
    The Peacemaker* - 4/10
    A Simple Plan - 8.5/10
    Clue - 7.5/10

Overall an extremely fun week especially since I had three solid experiences at the cinema (two in one day) with War for the Planet of the Apes being a perfect end to what is now my favorite trilogy. Dunkirk was above average as I certainly can't fault the overall production, the majority of the cast and the score but it didn't hit as hard as a film like that should and I felt completely detached from the experience which cannot be said for Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets. A film which despite its flaws was mesmerizing, visually breathtaking while having a unique style and vision, a solid score and was entertaining from start to finish just a shame that such a big budget independent film like this is unlikely to happen again with such poor box office returns. The rest of the week was on the whole great with A Simple Plan being the best of the lot while Clue was oddly charming and funny despite a few flaws.

    Paterson

If there's one word I'd use to describe this movie, it would be "endearing". That isn't to say that it felt like it took place in some idealistic fantasy land, but everything about it captured what it's like to grow up in a close knit community so perfectly and I couldn't help but smile in nearly every scene. I understand that Paterson itself is by no means a small city, but because it focused on just a few select locations, it really reminded me of what it was like to grow up in a small town and transported me back home, the bar scenes especially. Anyways, I'm familiar with who Jim Jarmusch is but this is the first movie of his that I've actually watched and I really enjoyed it so I should probably check out the rest of his work.

Side note: One scene that really stood out to me is when he's walking his dog past the laundromat and he stops to listen to that guy working on his rhymes. That was perfect.

WAY TOO LOW! @cshadows2887 would agree.

But seriously I'm biased since it's my favorite movie ever haha.

I'm curious to hear what flaws you saw in it?

I guess with me being properly into murder mysteries I was wanting more background on the characters and that was kind of brushed over outside of the reasons for being blackmailed plus the humor never really got me laughing till around the halfway point.

Haha well tbf it's based on a board game where the characters don't have any background really (at least at that point in time). I feel the humor is more about how the actors perform it and their mannerisms as opposed to the jokes themselves.

    Fair and valid points though

When Clue came out didn't they film multiple endings having a different character being the killer in each variant? I'm pretty sure the intent was to ship out different endings to different theatres but I'm not sure if that actually happened.

Yep it did. The home release itself shows all multiple endings at the end. There is one ending that was never released and only appears in the script/a single photograph I believe

Traveled to Rochester and the Eastman House to see the only existing copy of The Bridge of San Luis Rey this weekend. Which was a pretty awesome experience.

Finally saw Popstar. Pretty fucking hilarious. Just about died at the scene when they were in the car and the dick was coming through the window.
