I don't know why the humor felt so much more grating to me in Isle of Dogs than it did in the other three I rewatched. I enjoyed the medium, but not the way the dialogue translated to animation, I guess. Kind of hard to explain.
1. The Royal Tenenbaums 2. Rushmore 3. Bottle Rocket 4. The Darjeeling Limited 5. The Grand Budapest Hotel 6. Moonrise Kingdom 7. Asteroid City 8. The Phoenician Scheme 9. The Fantastic Mr. Fox 10. The French Dispatch 11. Isle of Dogs 12. The shorts on Netflix 13. The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou

I liked The Materialists. Good writing, good performances. I got there late so I missed some of the trailers. I still managed to catch the last two seconds of the trailer for The Roses @imthegrimace
Busy weekend but I got to watch Ghostlight on Hulu and it was a lucky pick because it is really really good.
Targets (1968) is still a perfect 10 to me. Watched The Cell and Bio-Dome (lol) for the first time on Friday. The former has honestly aged relatively well, if only visually. D'Onofrio really inhabits that character and brings the incredible dream sequences to life.
i liked Sorry, Baby. impressive performance and writing/directing debut. will look out for Eva Victor in the future for sure
The Late Shift 7/10 Pretty good mid 90's premium made for TV movie. The actors playing Leno and Letterman felt like bad impressions at some points, but Kathy Bates kills it. The TV boardroom intrigue is fascinating. Always a treat to see Bob Balaban doing Bob Balaban things
Drop - 4/10. Kinda boring. I like the main actress but I thought the gimmick wasn't that interesting and the movie was never really all that suspenseful or interesting. Thought the setting was dull. It was one of those premises that in the end, it barely mattered who it was. Ohhhhhh it was THAT guy! No way. Eh. Heretic - 9/10 Now THIS i totally dug. Felt very unique. Hugh Grant really adds his own to the "crazy psycho" character. Great set up. Great house. Great trio cast. Absolutely loved this.
K Pop Demon Hunters- 8.5/10 This didn’t look like something I’d like, but all the hype got me interested. Obviously for a younger audience, but the music was great, especially the last number. It’s from the same studio that did the Spider-Verse movies. Amazing visuals and I liked the characters. I hope we get a sequel.
I rewatched Licorice Pizza for the first time since it came out. It is so much more enjoyable removed from the thinkpieces of awards season. Alana's constant back-and-forth between the expectations of adulthood and the pleasures of extended adolescence is so relatable regardless of time period.
The Beekeeper 10/10 you should know what you’re getting into when you watch a Jason Statham action film. this one delivers on all cylinders. I just watched it on Amazon prime and it was a blast. Definitely a lot of world building going on within it if that was on purpose or not. Plus love seeing Josh Hutch play a drug addled nepo baby. If you love well written and choreographed action movies this one’s for you.
Superman - 8/10 good Superman movie, but I’m getting a little fatigued with James Gunn’s style. I liked the Justice League International references.
Just got out of Eddington. I need to rewatch it to take it all in. Not sure what I’d rate it yet. There was a point where I was bored, but then it picked up and I was all in. I felt Aster played centrist and both sides too much (and cringed at the way BLM was portrayed)until the last act.
After thinking about it, I guess the commentary was on white people co-opting the BLM movement and virtue signalingwhich I totally get.
