Black Bag was awesome. I love me some Soderbergh in stylish mode and it was smart and the dialogue was snappy. Big, big fan.
Bob Trevino Likes It is a little corny and has some rough edges narratively (and budgetarily) but it's very charming and has three really terrific performances. None of them afraid to show the hard-to-like parts of mostly sympathetic characters.
I saw a couple movies over the weekend. Anora was ok, a little overhyped Sing Sing was really good, underhyped
The theater near me was playing both Flow and Anora. I was gonna check them out but I think they just got the boot today for The Amateur and Warfare.
I watched Tron Legacy and dispite the de aging of Jeff Bridges doesn't hold up... The special effects, CGI in The Grid and the Daft Punk score still holds up to this day and the cinematography is really good and looks even more amazing in 4K and the film itself.. enjoyed it way more now than I did years ago.
Just got out of the cinema after watching Drop and I am so glad I went into this completely blind and it's really good!!
I thought it was a ton of fun and captured King's tone/voice better than any other of his adaptations since maybe 1408
watched 4 movies over the weekend The Terminator - rules, a movie I had a lot of vague knowledge of due to greater pop culture but had never actually seen - Arnold rocks Nacho Libre - didn't remember liking this when it came which is weird because I was like 13, but it was fun. I woke up early and needed to kill some time before I could mow my backyard Warfare - not a lot of plot, very intense, very brutal - also very loud in an IMAX auditorium After Hours - picked up the Criterion 4k a few weeks ago, loved this. incredibly funny
No matter how many art films and foreign masterpieces and Golden Age classics I see, T2 remains one of the best movies ever made in my estimation.
The only movie I was able to watch this weekend was Animal Factory, a Steve Buscemi directed film. It was ok. I think I’ve only seen this and Trees Lounge from him, but it has a similar vibe despite being vastly different settings.
I once again have like 20 films to log on Letterboxd (The Monkey being one of them) but I'll keep my posts in here curated to new stuff/films of interest
