I saw that for the first time in a crowd that was, like 40% people who were in the movie last summer and was dying laughing

    Really liked it! Very funny.

I’m watching Magic Spot now and so far it is REALLY doing it for me. Almost feels like it’s in a class of its own among the Motern catalog.

Yeah that’s one of the ones where some genuine feeling really sneaks up on you. A lot like Local Legends

All We Imagine as Light is poignant and beautiful. The fascists in India didn't want it get too much exposure because it depicts a relationship between a Hindu and a Muslim, which should be all the more reason to watch it.

The shot of the rainforest as a release after letting go emotionally of her husband is pure cinema.

The rice cooker and the apology scene have also stuck with me

Ghost is a decent movie, but when the TikTok song comes on near the very end of the movie it becomes maybe the most unintentionally hilarious scene ever.

I watched The Fall on Mubi last night and it's incredible and the 4k restoration is absolutely stunning!!

The Thin Red Line is on prime so I gave it a rewatch. Remarkable in so many ways. I’m so glad Terrence Malick makes movies. I wish he did one in every genre, but it’s so important that he did a war movie.

They say there is no such thing as an anti-war film, but The Thin Red Line comes pretty close. It was bold to try and make that statement in a World War II film, too, given its reputation as the most "just" war of the modern American era.

Trap - not as good as Old or Knock at the Cabin, but still entertaining. Shyamalan still knows how to dial up the tension when needed. The plot mechanics are so stilted it becomes part of the charm. Josh Harnett seems to be having a blast as well.

Conclave - Melodramatic, even a bit campy, and probably trying a little too hard to say something, but damn I loved it. It’s like watching The Bachelor: Pope. Who gets to where the hat in the end?

Wolfs - the most “just a movie” thing I’ve seen in a while. It’s fine. Clooney and Pitt seemed like they were phoning it in. That kids first monologue in the seedy motel was good fun though.

Twister was a chore, but it was fascinating that they felt they need to have a bad guy storm chaser and instead of him just losing to the good guys he has to have his driver violently impaled, the truck thrown around like a ragdoll, and then it explodes just in case you think they are still alive.

The death of the driver seems unnecessary, particularly since he was presented as a nice and reasonable guy. But the movie still rocks.

He's literally begging the guy to let him turn around. It's a strange choice. If reminded me of the gruesome death for the assistant in Jurassic Park 4.

    Becoming Led Zeppelin

I love Zeppelin’s first 6 albums and have read up on their history somewhat over the years. I enjoyed the first half of this as it was a lot of info I didn’t know going in. The second half was also great with more tour knowledge and the history behind records deals.

My only complaint is the concert footage they used in the second half. The concert videos went on too long and were too frequent in the second half.

Good and moral characters dying or getting killed isn’t inherently an issue, but the impaling and brutal nature of the death is a very odd choice. If it had been Cary Elwes it would have felt more justified, but even then it is the most gruesome death in the movie by far.
