Probably, but it's my favorite, and I don't need a Lynchian spaceworm burping and farting visible energy to make it worse.
even if it is the worst of the original trilogy, it’s still a world away in terms of quality from pretty much everything to come after it I always liked it a lot
As different as Dune is from his filmography, Lynch's strangest film will always be The Straight Story. It is not a weird film itself, but a weird film from him.
The weirdest thing about Return of the Jedi is the opening with Jabba and Han Solo. It is literally just tying up plot threads from the previous film before they can get to the A plot. Pretty much nothing that happens there has any consequence to the main story. I can't think of anything to compare it to other than season-ending cliffhangers of shows that just go back to normal within an episode of the return of the show.
I Liked lynches Dune there's many things in it I preferred To Dune 1. May revisit before I see Dune 2
I have absolutely no interest in the new Dune movies. sure they look great but they just don’t seem like something I’d enjoy
the new one from 2021 is totally engaging for its runtime, i watched it a week ago on hulu and it was great, cast is stacked! but if you aren't into atmospheric sci-fi it might not be for you. but i recommend it!
The first one was visually impressive but outside of Lady Jessica, I didn’t find any of the characters to be engaging at all.
I echo @WadeCastle and honestly think you'd really enjoy them, or at least giving the first one a shot (I was similarly skeptical), but you are correct about being fine without them. I feel the same way about Marvel films and the Star Wars shows.
You're mostly correct except that it shows Lando has been fully enmeshed into the rebellion and finally shows Luke as a fully-developed Jedi doing confident mind tricks and shit, both of which are kind of a set up for what's coming.
Lol, I hope you don't hate it! I saw a review that was like "If you're looking for a very dated horror-comedy where a guy kills his wife and then looks at the camera and shrugs like a sitcom, this is for you," and rest assured, it was lmao.
I’m very much looking forward to watching the new dune movies. Never read the book or seen Lynch’s but i love sci fi stuff
Didn't hate it! Probably wasn't quite as into it as you were though. It is gleefully and unrepentantly stupid, which I did enjoy. Felt a bit like a proto-Tromo film in many ways. I did wish it dialled up the splatter and gore a bit though.
Agreed on both counts, the gore was very slapstick and definitely felt like the 70s version of a less visually gross Troma movie. The runtime definitely helps, lol.
The world building of the Avatar films set them apart. It feels like a three hour nature doc each time.
