I think Los Olvidados is probably my favorite Bunuel thusfar because it's one of the only ones I've seen where he lets the intellectual thrust of the movie be subtext and focuses on the film itself. Seen Las Hurdes, Un Chien Andalou, L'age D'or, Los Olvidados, The Young One, Viridiana, Belle de Jour, Tristana, and The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoise Still need to see a bunch including The Exterminating Angel and That Obscure Object of Desire.
I'm hopeful for this one given the director's track record. He's not just an internal hire from Illumination.
Dream Scenario - 8/10 Never in 100 years did I expect this to be a movie about cancel culture. I don't know if it actually says anything, and it's honestly kind of a bummer, but goddamn is it endearing and sporadically very funny. Cage is obviously great, a perfect fit for the movie, and that scene is both one of the most uncomfortable and funniest I've ever seen.
I'm currently watching The Beekeeper and I can safely say this is the worst movie I've ever seen in my entire life. It's so cliche and it feels like it was written by a 14 year old who has the loosest grasp on US politics and law enforcement agencies. It's batshit. The writing, acting, cinematography, editing, it's all tragic. Please watch it. Suffer like I had to.
Seriously. This is wild. It's like a student film. It's gotta be a joke. Who needed the money this badly? I feel like I'm being played.
The new one with Jason Statham? I mean what did you expect? It’s Jason Statham just fucking people up. My dad wanted to see it so we went on Monday and had fun just laughing at how ridiculous it was.
