Cobweb - 8/10 I don't know what I was expecting, but it definitely wasn't something as goofy and bonkers and intense as this. Great performances, great directing, great atmosphere. Really fun stuff, perfect for Halloween.
How to Blow Up A Pipeline - 8.5/10. Good independent film, based on the book. Despite the title, it’s not a “how to” movie…don’t worry lol. A group of people want to blow up an oil pipeline for various reasons. I guess the movie got criticism because it showed terrorism in a good light. I mean, I guess I can see that, but it is thought-provoking.
Bottoms - 9/10, Kinda thankful the trailers were so misleading on what this is, an incredible satire that is gonna be hard to top for comedy of the year.
Bubba Ho-Tep - 7/10, Love seeing a B-movie from the early 2000s get the 4k treatment, the lighting in this looks so good and is such a stark contrast from what we often get in horror movies these days. Bruce Campbell and Ossie Davis are such a fun team, and this is incredibly goofy and made on a BUDGET, fun time!
Tetsuo: The Iron Man - 8/10 Just wild, wild levels of frenetic filmmaking. Cannibal Holocaust - 6/10, Interesting ideas and I love how it's structured, but yeah there's a ton in here that makes it a tough watch and is true to it's reputation. The animal cruelty is especially nasty and I thought I was seeing a version that had edited it out... turned out not to be the case, ooph.
Blue Beetle was fun! I would've handled the ending a little bit differently but otherwise I really liked it
Becky - 8.5/10 Wrath of Becky - 8/10 The Invitation - 8/10 Freddy vs. Jason - 6.5/10 Video Violence - 8/10 Halloweenville - 7.5/10
Ready or Not - I enjoyed it, but it didn't really live up to the hype. The ending is extremely satisfying though. And Samara Weaving has a very incredible, guttural scream. Jerry and Marge Go Large - A perfect plane movie. It's not going to change your life, but it's a fun, feel-good way to pass the time. More movies could use Larry Wilmore.
I didn’t see The Thing until Blank Check covered Carpenter a couple of years ago. Actually hadn’t seen most of his big ones like that, They Live, Big Trouble In Little China but they all rule
Yep. I mean it was fun, I don't think it was bad, but I didn't have cable growing up so it was kind of just a slightly above average kids' Halloween movie to me
