Messiah of Evil - 5/10

 

Pearl 9.5/10 - Mia Goth should have won an Oscar for this. The music, dance number, monologue…damn.

 

One of the best of the decade so far and an all-timer for me.

 

Who Framed Roger Rabbit - 9.5/10

Just insane how good this looks for 1988, not only the animation but the animation-live action hybrid. So fun, so funny, and every IP-based movie this unfortunately inspired in the past 10-ish years feels like a cynical cash-grab in the shadow of a giant

 

bar none the best zemeckis film

 

Roger Rabbit is goddamn perfect. They understood noir down to its absolute DNA and then cracked incredible straight-faced jokes right through its heart.

Plus the effects look better than any of these Disney live-action remakes to this day.

 

I've yet to find someone who isn't completely enamored with Roger Rabbit, just one of those undeniable movies.

Evil Dead Rise 8.5/10 - lots of gore, couldn’t ask for more

 

I never watched because of this, although id extend past 10years to every single live action animation mix ever

Agreed on all the Roger Rabbit takes. One of those movies that's so perfect that it's often forgotten. Easily on my top 50 goat list.

 

Infinity Pool - 8/10

Mia Goth rules. I went in blind. Lots of holy shit moments. Definitely not for everyone though

 

Evil Dead Rise - 3/10, Really didn't expect to be so down on this given how much I love the 2013 remake, but whew, this was largely a complete miss for me, outside of maybe an early kill and the finale.

 

Knock at the Cabin - 8/10

one of the better Shymalan movies
