    Last.fm has regained their independence:

Today, Last.fm begins a new chapter as an independent company. Ownership has changed, but the product you use every day has not. Your account, your listening history, and your data remain exactly where they are. The team building Last.fm is the same. The service continues as normal.

  4. Still here after 18 years. I remember quitting after the big 2015 revamp though. At that point, almost every feature that gave the platform its appeal had been removed. For history preserving purpose, I did come back a couple years later and even ended up getting a subscription since. I still mourn the place it was in the late 00s/early 10s, with the radio feature, groups and the likes. I feel like it was such a weird move to neuter the social aspects of that platform whereas everything else on the internet seemed to trend towards the opposite. I feel like they missed the wave or something in the 2010s, how much that was due to CBS though...

I've noticed over the past few years that it seems to have grown a larger (younger too?) following, with shoutboxes becoming active again, the lastfm bot being popular on discord etc. Curious to see what that all entails in the near future.

Wow. Used to love having that app. Looking at my history and I see it's been almost 6 years since I last scrobbled. Crazy I joined way back in 09. Guess I'll start back up again.
