LANY - Mama’s Boy (October 2, 2020) Album

Excited to hear where this goes. Hoping for a single sooner than later!

 

Not a huge fan of the title but I’m looking forward to this. Loved the last album despite not having a lot of variety

 

I am super curious to hear what the new album sounds like. I thought the last album was a huge step-up for them (musically, lyrically, vocally) but I'm hoping the lyrics this time go a little deeper than songs about girls (or 1 girl). Based on the promotion for this album and its title, I think that's what we are going to get. Maybe something around how he's grown since the last album. Break-ups can be transformational, so I think some good lyrics with the typical LANY sound could make for an incredible album.

 

really hoping for something more tantalizing this time around. They showed moments of it in Malibu Night but I really want them to go for it

I don't like the lyrics but lord this slaps

Massive boy band vibes in that chorus. Working with lauv def helped

 

I like the song but aren't these guys in their 30's? Was hoping for a little bit more in the lyrics department

Listening to this again, it's just an incredibly simple song; like it was designed more for the Top 40 crowd, a crowd that craves/loves repetition and simple song structures. It's a catchy ear worm, but a weak one at that. Hopefully single #2 is what really shows their progression, or one that reminds us what the band is really capable of.

 

100% agree. Was hoping for a statement coming out the gates but seems like we might be getting more of the same. One trick ponies

 

Lol they have an album about Americana and the dichotomy of being true to your roots in LA, but the first single is an extremely immature and cringe “good guy” anthem, cmon

 

I'm wondering if it was the label's decision to release this track first; the band surely would have wanted a stronger statement for the 1st single from the new album

 

or they are just writing songs for 14-year-old girls. The new 1975 song made up for it though. Now we just need the band camino to release a new song

 

Oh god, please be better than “good guys”

 

I’ll always be grateful for the hilariousness of the dichotomy between the press release for the new album and good guys
