Damn Lana starting off her conservative MAGA tradwife era with somewhat eerie unsettling production, that kinda fits
My exposure to LDR has been very minimal aside from knowing she occasionally has some weird album titles and it took me a very long time to realize that the title of this album isn't actually "Stove????? (2026) RIP Lasso etc"
a little touch of the ol' betty boop routine from "off to the races" makes an appearance! thank christ this is actually interesting! surprised in a nice way. also, giving major opening track vibes.
like i want to like it, but it's in this weird state where i can't really explain any feelings i have about it other than "interesting"
I don't know when exactly it happened, but somewhere in the last decade, this woman irreversibly altered my brain chemistry, and now I hear lyrics like "He's my white feather hawk tail deer hunter oopsy daisy yoo ohooo" and I think to myself: my god if this isn't just an absolute masterclass of songwriting. But really, I love the song, it's gorgeous and haunting. Hope the album follows more from this than from Henry Come On (although I still think Bluebird is a beautiful, if not particularly exciting, song).
I know Pitchfork's been struggling with the new subscription announcement but this seems a little excessive to try to get people back Incredibly dumb joke I know but I was bored and felt it needed it somewhere
i remember years ago people calling for her to sing a Bond theme. the fact that it ends up being for a video game is kind of hilarious, but i'm sure the song is decent she's got that 007 PicsArt filter
