Listening to Dealer for the first time was an unbelievable experience. It absolutely lived up to the hype she gave it. I fucking love this album. That’s all I got right now
I still wish she'd mix it up more instrumentally, but this is considerably better than Chemtrails, which is a nice surprise.
Was watching her instagram live stream for a while last night. Really cool to see her just having casual conversations with fans while she had her father there with her.
I decided to take a stab at making an Ultraviolence style experience out of the one million songs lana released this year and landed on this, which eliminates a lot of perfectly good songs but flows really nicely for me. I actually enjoy listening to this in one sitting: white dress blue banisters black bathing suit dealer thunder dark but just a game not all who wander are lost text book if you lie down with me chemtrails over the country club sweet carolina
I can't believe I like this more than Chemtrails, but I really do! I loved Jack's work on the last two albums, but the slightly less slick production on here really suits these songs imo. The chorus in Nectar of the Gods is so so good.
Went through her entire discography again these last few days and you bet I'm gonna do a ranking Ultraviolence Lust for Life Norman Fucking Rockwell! Chemtrails Over the Country Club Blue Banisters Born to Die (including Paradise edition) Honeymoon Really do love them all except for Honeymoon which is still really good just don't come back to it often. Lust for Life is so close to being my favorite but tracks 10-13 just don't do it for me.
I really can't overstate how much I love this album. Especially the run from the Interlude to Nectar of the Gods. The one thing that's kind of weird though is the first 3 songs feel more like a prelude EP or something, and the Interlude feels like the intro to the proper album. Still like the songs they just feel like a separate thing (but I think they also do a good job kind of establishing her headspace for this album)
Yeah this is definitely a grower for me. It does feel like an album in three parts (Interlude starts second part and Nectar starts the last) Dealer was a stand out from the start but I’ve really grown to like Sweet Carolina, I feel like Lana piano songs don’t have a lot new to offer but this just sounds downright dreamy and Debussyesque
I think this is my AOTY which is sort of shock considering how I wasn't terribly excited by the singles when they came out.
