Found this to be mostly fine. The interludes add nothing, easily could have been cut. But it’s a fun listen. Alice and Fun Tonight are the two that stand out the most to me. Will be a fun listen when hanging outside with a drink or two in the yard.
More songs are sticking to me and I'm wanting to listen to than I initially thought I would, so that's a good sign. I don't think this'll measure up to my love of Artpop or Fame/Monster but it's still quality stuff. Apparently Sine From Above is polarizing some people but that was like my immediate standout from the album lol, that and Plastic Doll
I get the criticisms but I think this might be my favorite Gaga album? I can’t really pinpoint it exactly, it just has a really special feel to me. Part of it is definitely that with everything going on right now, it’s a breath of fresh air. My only downside is not being able to hear this blasted at Pride events.
VMA performance is one of the best things I've seen. I've thought for years that her Superbowl performance was the best thing she's done, and then there's this performance which could not be more different in every possible aspect yet she is still 100% Lady Gaga and absolutely killed it. Opening her performance with Chromatica II into 911 was totally unexpected. Then, I thought it was over after Rain On Me. Then she pulls out a piano bit and then absolutely slays with a Stupid Love finale. Damn it, I love this woman. EDIT: And she cleaned up on awards too! Well deserved. The "Tricon" award basically being the new version of the MJ Video Vanguard but beyond just music accomplishments. I'm so proud to have grown up with her career!
I don't think I've listened to a Gaga album since Fame before this. I'm not all the way through it but enjoyed what I've heard
Meh - I love the album, it's just my least favourite - Feels lazy, melodically dull and overly repetitive
911 would have been lower on my list but more recently I enjoy it much more. I'd probably put Plastic Doll as my least favorite track. The first two singles, Alice, Free Woman, Enigma, and Sine from Above are my tops.
