This is probably my 2nd most anticipated film for the rest of the year, just behind Rogue One.

My most anticipated movie even in a year that has Rogue One and a new Scorsese coming out.

One of the best movies of the year. Absolutely lived up to expectations.

Film critics sucking up to movie stars and directors is always really uncomfortable. It should be an adversarial relationship.

I don't know if I'd say adversarial, but certainly to tie your review into meeting the filmmakers and actors that giddily is weird

Lights Camera Jackson used to be good for a laugh when he was a kid, but I think he is near twenty now and the behavior has gotten old.

I forget the article, but Roger Ebert went after a guy named Ben Lyons for blending the entertainment news and film criticism realms. Once you start hanging out with these people, it is harder to judge them fairly.

Leonard Maltin early on vowed not to befriend actors/directors as to not cloud his judgement of their work. The one exception was Joe Dante early on in his career. He still gave Gremlins a negative review. Dante paid him back by putting Maltin in as a cameo in Gremlins 2, by which Maltin was killed on screen by the gremlins.

I think Ebert's main criticism was the Lyons purposely wrote reviews with concise statements that he knew studio marketing departments could put on the movie poster.

A lot of people, and I think it included Ebert, heavily criticized Lyons for the way he acted at film festivals, particularly Sundance. He saw something like five films during the whole festival, and Ebert said that most critics see four or five films in a single day. Lyons spent a lot more time interviewing celebrities.

Here is the quote about Ebert I was referring to:

Stop Ben Lyons!: The big dog smacks down the poodle

I fucking loved this. Had no expectations going in, having only seen the trailer once like a month ago, and was blown away. Felt the feels in so many parts throughout the film. The songs were great, but not totally in your face, which was nice. Great set pieces, real emotion, fun music, everything. I want to see it again

how much does the gosling sing?

A good amount, but I'd def say Stone's singing is much more prominent.

nice! I saw he was only on like two songs on the soundtrack so I was confused?

By traditional musical standards, there's not a ton of songs in it. So that may be why.
