that was enlightening, explains why older records i feel like i have to turn up more if im on the bus. does genre come into play here? because a lot of the rap artists i looked up in the database were pretty firmly in the red -- kanye has it bad pretty often also lol @ metallica
goddamn you @bedwettingcosmo when I saw you bumped this thread I thought they announced something goddamn you to hell
this seems a little on the unlikely side and i feel like we've talked about why and i don't remember at all. they're good at being quiet even when they're working on stuff though so who knows
I don't think we're going to hear anything about the future of this band until the merch subscription is over in a few months.
Some of the stuff they said in Tiny Dots pointed to the band having an expiration date fairly soon. Hope you're right though!
i'm guarding my heart from the sadness that it's gonna experience when they finally do hang it up hope ya'll are right
I don't think I've shared this here, but this was my first tattoo a couple years ago. Rooms of the House got me through some really bad times. Tattoo I don't know how image tags work. *shrug*
I have to be this person and bump the thread because I'm listening through the entire discog in preparation for their hometown show tomorrow, and I can't think of another band I've liked this long that has such a solid body of work. Each album is emotional for me for a different reason. But most of all, there are very few albums I listened to in 2008 that don't make me cringe and Somewhere at the Bottom is still so good. Hope they put out another album- I've felt like they were on the verge of breaking up for like 3 years now and I'd love to be proven wrong again.
Seems like the consensus when people talk about Something At The Bottom... hints at being kind of embarrassed at the lyrical subject matter. It's my least favorite of their albums, but it still fucking rips, and some of the bluesier leads blew my mind a few years back because I hadn't heard that kind of influence in emo/ punk/hardcore/post hardcore before. A lot going on musically there, and the lyrics, while not always the most mature (they kind of take themselves super seriously) are still pretty good when coupled with his delivery imo. I mean, dude crammed a million words into every line and still made it sound like every word mattered. Would love something new from them, but if Rooms is how they go out, that is definitely an album to be proud of.
Somewhere is still my favourite front to back, but Wildlife is also really great and a little easier to listen to now. Rooms just didn't click with me as a whole, but I'd love a new release from these guys.
