I don't like how vocals are no longer the focus on most tracks (levelled at or below guitar in many songs), and I don't think the drums on the record benefit from the extra compression at all, the hits sound almost clipped now like they smashed the limiter. It sounds much less organic than the original versions, which are honestly some of my favourite production/mixes/masters of all time. They are definitely aren't terrible remasters but 9 times out of 10 I'd rather listen to the original mixes. Also, I like the original artwork much more than this, which looks like a less interesting version of Transatlanticism... this whole "new version" of the album feels wholly unnecessary. I just want the option to stream the old versions on Spotify, I feel like that's not too much to ask
They fucking killllled it last week when I saw them in Anaheim. The mix was so good and Jordan sounded incredible. I forgot that the remaster of Somewhere At the Bottom had just come out so the set leaned a little heavy on that imo (not a fan of that album) but everything from Wildlife and Rooms was amazing. Really hope I get to catch them on a headlining tour one of these days. I’ve only ever seen them open. Side note: Thirteen is just such a beautiful song. Ugh. One of my favorites of theirs.
Soooo I’m pretty sure I got this from La Dispute in the mail (unfortunately it’s at my parent’s address, so I can’t physically look through)...
The La Dispute Community is talking about this on Facebook. It's a closed group but I don't think they know anymore than anyone else.
