Hmmm I forgot Wildlife came out in early Oct. I remember listening a lot in the November time frame when it was released.
having a wildlife moment right now. FIND IT. A BODY THAT MAKES SENSE. IVE FELT IT really feel like they are going to unleash a storm on us in a few months.
I associate Wildlife a lot more with Winter (especially in January) than any other season but the first few tracks definitely have an Octobernovember charge to them, from Departure through Hometown. Also I've been listening a lot to Edward Benz again lately. It's such a cinematic and goddamn good song, but as someone who has to deal with a parent with schizophrenia and thinking about how that affected my (now) deceased grandparents, and also me, I don't know it's a lot. It's something most music doesn't even address, most music seems interested in fetishizing depression, so it's cool to see something like this, even if it's ultimately about the violence that arises in rare cases. I remember being 17 and listening to it as my mother screamed about the sun disappearing in the other room, about how my grandmother continued to love my mother even laying in her deathbed as my mother attempted to choke her to death. It's a lot. It's like hell getting old.
Wildlife is very much a summer or spring album for me whereas Rooms is fall/winter. Though to be fair, we don’t really get seasons here, but Rooms just sounds colder to me
i get 4 very distinct seasons where i live and wildlife will always be the fading into winter album while rooms is thawing into life.
With all the ice references in Rooms and the bleak content in places, it’s a very autumn/winter album for me. Reflective, moody, cold, winter evenings.
Yep. Wildlife released in the fall, Rooms in the spring. I’ll always associate Home Like No Place, Rooms, and Oh, Common Life with spring since I got into those around the same time.
Hotelier - February 25th Elder Brother - March 11th LD - March 18th Fireworks - March 25th That was a good spring.
Elder Brother's came out earlier this year, so I don't see that happening. I would be the happiest person alive if Fireworks decided to release another album.
They played 30 seconds of ska music to start their set too. It was literally terrifying. What is significant about 11/9?
