also there is a quote on their official site. “This century, as has been pointed out many times, is the century of emigration, enforced and voluntary. That is to say a century of partings without end, and a century haunted by the memories of those partings. The sudden anguish of missing what is no longer there is like suddenly coming upon a jar which has fallen and broken into fragments. Alone you collect the pieces, discover how to fit them together and then carefully stick them to one another, one by one. Eventually the jar is reassembled but it is not the same as it was before. It has become both flawed, and more precious. Something comparable happens to the image of a loved place or a loved person when kept in the memory after separation.” ~ John Berger
Saw that this morning. The quote is interesting. Sad that the handful of UK dates are in the south (apart from Leeds Festival which I've got no desire to go to outside of La Dispute and Underoath).
Wonder if the quote is in reference to the band in any way. Something about being apart in between records and the difference they noticed in their sound & themselves when they got back at it.
Interview: La Dispute talk 'spiritual' new album and flying beers dense is the best thing i could hear for this album.
Listening to Wildlife today because I just missed it and also because I have been thinking about Michigan a lot as a setting for a new story I want to write. I want to make it one of those stories where the setting is almost a character. But I'm not from Michigan, or anywhere close to Michigan. So. Research. It's weird - I never listen to this album anymore since I got out of the dark place that I was in, but I still remember every word... It's really good, y'all. I love it still. I mostly wanted to hear "Safer in the Forest/Love Song for Poor Michigan," but I ended up getting novel feels from a few songs.
i forgot what thread i was in and I was like what the heck i am????? also heck yeah I didn't realize that was out today
