currently my aoty. hard to see anything dethroning it. been choking up with steve on replay more than i care to admit
Funnily enough I was just looking at my aoty list and upcoming stuff and right now the top spot is a tossup between this, Callous Daoboys, For Your Health, and then Massa Nera drops at the end of the month. Once that comes out I know that'll be the top 4....I just don't know their exact positions lol so I'll have to spend more time with each one.
Yeah this album is something special. I don’t think they can ever top Rooms for me, way too much nostalgia and memories linked to that album. But I think this one has solidified as their second best in my opinion. the title track, I dreamt of a room…, and environmental catastrophe film make me tear up pretty frequently. Top-sellers banquet and saturation diver make me feel a weird range of emotions growing up religious with a mom obsessed with the rapture. Really love the stories told on this one and how they link together. I know all of their albums do that, but this one really nailed it.
Daoboys isn’t one of them lol. I mean I love that album don’t get me wrong. Right now it’s deafheaven, moving mountains, and la dispute. Greyhaven is about to give them a run for their money if the singles are any indicator
Oh dang, figured they'd be lol. Deafheaven is in my top 5 at the moment, and not only is Greyhaven this week but Massa Nera is on Halloween and I'm pretty sure both will make my list.
Daoboys gonna be pretty high don’t get me wrong. But at this point I’d still take celebrity therapist which was my 2022 AOTY
Agreed, this new album is GREAT but celebrity therapist has Title Track and that song....don't know if they'll ever top it.
Title Track also features the vocalist of For Your Health, another band that released an album this year and is currently in my top 3.
I was looking at the UK online shop and there are three books that looked interesting but not sure if they’re worth the price. Anyone got these? Any worth buying? - No One Expanded Lyric Booklet - Monuments in Plywood Hardback Book - Pareidolia (book)
i have the no one lyric booklet. alot of writings and prompts that the band used to inspire the songs on the album. its like 60 pages. good stuff.
I love this album but haven’t listened to it as much as I expected, simply because it’s so dense and intense. I feel like you need to give it the attention it deserves. A brilliant album. I’d probably place it just behind Rooms of the House if I was ranking at this stage.
Bought tickets to all 4 Texas shows next year, going to bop around the state and shout CAN I STILL GET INTO HEAVEN IF I KILL MYSELF for the better part of a week, just something to look forward to.
This just keeps getting more impressive and emotionally impactful as I spend more time with it as the overarching narrative settles in and becomes clearer. I still don't think I like it quite as much as Wildlife but it's a pretty comfortable second at this point and I can see why people think it's their best. It's probably my favourite album of the year.
listening to Wildlife for the first time in years today and damnnnn it still goes. I might have to pick up that new vinyl pressing. I had one from hot topic when I was in high school but it has disappeared
Saw them last night in Leeds on the final night of their tour. It's the second time I've seen them this year, which feels incredible to write (caught them in Manchester earlier this year in February) and honestly, I feel like they're really on top of their game in terms of the live performance. Breathtaking, passionate, inspired. Both times have been wonderful.
not sure which show it was but theres an incredibly shot clip from some fest of king park that's been all over my social media the past few days. looked insane.
It’s outbreak for sure. That clip (especially the angles looking out at the crowd) is nuts. Theres also some of them performing such small hands where Jordan is basically swallowed up by people. Stoked to see them getting such wild response in such a large festival
