Just realized track 6 is easily my favorite from both LPs, and they both kinda share a vibe of being more melodically complex with cool leads. If they really dug into that sound more this project might actually rival Circa/Sao for me.
I can't stop listening to this. I do think they absolutely coulda added How Dare You to the mix but that's my only real complaint
Violet is by far my favorite song on the record and might be my favorite of theirs next to Old Wounds
I low key love I Can See It Now. That bass is insane. that said, the pre-released tracks are top notch. Machines, Violet, and Paper Tigers are probably my favorite. I’m happy I didn’t over listen because they still sound so fresh.
first impressions on one listen. sometimes it feels like this band is going through the motions. theyre kinda stuck on a similar tempo alot of the time. by the time i got through the album though there were moments i felt added up to more than the sum of its parts and some other moments that were alot more memorable. im getting a little bit of post punk vibes from some of the songs on the second half and that is really cool. the pixies esque intro of paper tigers still makes me groan. im guessing this album will grow on me some with repeat listens. a handful of tracks i already like quite a bit.
New interview with Frank/Anthony: L.S. Dunes on “the fire that burns really hot” in new album ‘Violet’ and the future of My Chemical Romance
I don't know why it took me a week to listen to this. Huge step up from their first record in my opinion. The back half of the record is really hitting for me. The guitar in You Deserve To Be Haunted is downright blissful. Strong In Keeping Secrets vibes coming off that riffage.
Finally threw this on for the first time after smoking a little bit ago. This album is fucking hitting.
man I forgot how fucking good Old Wounds is. Anthony has been on the most insane run since 2022 (year not song)
Just said goodbye to my pooch last night. Violet and forgiveness hit different. This record already meaning a lot to me.
