Spent all day with this and it’s the fuckin shit. miles ahead of the debut. They’re officially gel’n.
Whelp that ripped holograms early standout - i like the restraint. The opening isolated vocals to start the record is so bad ass.
This is definitely more my thing than the debut but I still feel like this is not nearly as unique or tight as Saosin or Circa. Kinda bummed to have gone so long without an Anthony project I'm in love with. I do love the title track and a handful of others here.
After a few listens this is growing on me. The songs are so dense and I don't think I've ever heard Tim's bass lines so present. Not a single song I don't like. I still think the debut is mostly just ok besides Permanent Rebellion. I also went back to the 3 in between singles and am enjoying them more than around release.
I like this, probably slightly less than the debut on first listen. It does feel less interesting to me than any of their other projects and they've yet to really come close to writing another song as good as "Permanent Rebellion". It seems like the kind of album that grows on you though so I'll see how I feel after spending some time with it.
I think this is light years ahead of the debut. The opener and closer are probably their 2 best songs.
Having listened to this a few times now I gotta say they really hit it out of the park with this one. This has the cohesion, energy and focus that I wish Along the Shadow had. Such an enjoyable listen.
This has gotten better with every listen. I absolutely love it. It's been a while since I listened to the debut, which I thought was great, but this doesn't even seem that comparable? It seems they took a pretty different avenue. Not that they sound radically different or anything, but the energy is very different.
yeah this is absolutely fantastic. Past Lives rips and so does this. feeling another Anthony binge comin on now
This album is very circa coded in the best way. So many of Anthony’s melodies and range reminds me of descensus. This is about as good of an album we could hope from him as a vocalist at his current age
I kind of felt like this one borrowed a lot from the Amulet, which is one of my favorite Circa albums. It seemed a little more psychedelia inspired than the debut.
