The mixing on each of the songs have definitely contributed to me disliking them. Such an odd decision esp when you have a vocalist as talented as Anthony. Can't make out a single lyric. A shame
seems like Anthony doesn't necessarily have a main band at this point though - I can see him popping around and doing different projects.
I think the mixing works well for the songs we’ve heard Honestly kind of surprised by the reactions to Bombsquad - I think it’s really great! (I also find it quite melodic/I think Anthony is great on it?)
the production is fine, maybe some people just forget what post hardcore is supposed to sound like lol
That’s what I feel like… I can make out the vocals fine, let’s be honest, even if Ant was louder we’d have trouble understanding him without the lyrics in the higher register (which I love).
Feeling like I must have different ears than everybody else here based on some of these comments tbh. It’s okay if y’all like the vocals buried and that’s a production choice you enjoy, but pls don’t go and tell me they aren’t buried in the mix. They are
Idk. I love "Permanent Rebellion," "2022," is very good and this song rocks, but I'd be lying if I said the vocals being buried wasn't a distraction, intentional or not. Maybe I'll get used to it.
I was expecting soooo much worse with the buried vocals comments. The vocals on MCR's song this year are ten times more buried and I had no problem with THOSE even lol
i suspect the mixing professionals of chorus fm will be having the "action cat" discussion for the rest of existence
yeah when that song came out i remember literally everyone here screaming about how buried the vocals were which was, of course, an intentional aesthetic choice, and honestly it's fucking weird that the standard of vocal mixing is that they're way in front of the other instruments
No one is claiming to be a mixing professional though lol I even said it was likely intentional. I'm just not in love with it. Don't have to be a chef to know the food tastes funny. Anyways, the song is still good. Excited for the record.
This conversation has become somewhat mind-numbing. Obviously aware the mixing decision is intentional, just not my thing. And I also enjoy the genre of post-hardcore, and many other artists outside the genre with lowly-mixed vox, but I don’t love the way this song in particular is mixed. It’s all subjective. Whatever, I’m leaving the thread. I’ll give the album a listen once it’s out. Maybe there will be more songs up my alley on the complete thing.
