I kinda see this actually, but ironically, it's the vocals that shake me out of it.

 

You’re not in the minority. AG’s vocal delivery/Melody and the instrumentation is very early Circa.

To me, the thing that separates this rendition from early Circa is the percussion duo. Especially that driving bass line.

Yeah, I mean its hard to avoid Circa comparisons really, because they're occupying a similar space sonically. Anthony's lyrics and delivery on 2022 seem more confessional and less abstract than Circa, on the whole.

I find Anthony's solo stuff can have a stifling flow sometimes, whereas Circa generally has more of a groove. On the whole LSD seem like they're going to be a bit rockier and direct, but ultimately not be too far away.

I don't like 2022 as much though, personally. Weirdly, I think its actually Anthony's parts in the song that stop me getting into it as quickly as I did the first song. There's some really cool guitar parts, and the bass is quickly becoming my favourite part of LSD. But I also don't vibe Anthony's solo stuff much really.. TTN Saosin and Circa are when I'm loving him the most.

I cant not hear the AG solo version of 2022... The fact the vocal stem is either the same or slightly different doesnt help. Dont dig the LS Dunes version that much.

 

The delivery feels way more aggressive on this version, no?

 

To me it sounds like the same stem as his solo album version, but different yells in spots... But I feel like the tempo shouldve been sped up or something. It just feels weird or out of place.. I cant place my finger on it.

 

Do not like this 2022 at all. I want this album to be good rlly badly but these 2 tracks aint it for me. I think this is the least I've enjoyed an Ant project maybe ever, but obviously I'll reserve judgement until I hear the whole record. I feel similarly about Fuckin Whatever. They both feel very lifeless to me and that's absolutely shocking when I think of how many powerhouse players are involved across both bands.

 

Preordered the indie exclusive variant of this today, shout out to my local store for always having the hook up
