Dr Miles Warren aka The Jackal

 

I don’t think he was in the Fox animated series, so I’ve never heard of them haha but interesting.

 

lol holy shit what.

 

He was but not in his Jackal identity, but he was the professor who helped make the Mary Jane clone with Hydro-Man.

In the comics it was Gwen Stacy and had nothing to do with Hydro-Man but more because Miles Warren is a fucking creep.

 

I bet the sequel would’ve had Jackal with a henchman who was more or less one of the Spider-clones, and now I’m pissed that we’re never getting that. We were so close!

Come on, Sony; where’s your misplaced hubris? Just do one more of these! People will see that one, I swear.

I mostly really liked this!

Some definite points lost for that fucking 20+ minutes of flashback I didn’t give a shit about, lol. And, shoehorning those spiders in that hallucination didn’t work for me. But, the majority of this was the kinda heightened, gnarly genre romp with Marvel baddies that I hoped it would be. Could totally see myself revisiting this, starting at around the half hour mark.

As of right now, my ranking of these Sony films is Let There Be Carnage > Madame Web > Kraven > Venom > The Last Dance > I guess I gotta remember that Morbius exists.

 

Yeah the opening scene was fun and then the flashback totally derailed the momentum

 

Also, I saw this with my Sheena, Queen of the Jungle shirt, which seems appropriate (as did seeing Madame Web in my Phantom Lady sweatshirt). And, the movie tickets currently on display in my phone case are now Kraven and Anora; maybe Kraven should take out that fucker in Anora and his parents.

 

I actually had a ton of fun with this? I mean it was bad and stupid but fun. The flashback kinda sucked but I don’t know these characters so I appreciated it. Some truly bad CGI and ADR and performances but more fun than most MCU of the last 5+ years.

 

I also kind of liked this. Seems like there was a good story somewhere in there. I’m not sure Ariana Debose said one line that wasn’t ADR but she may also be the worst living actor at the moment. After being super impressed with Fred Hechinger in the white lotus this is now 2 movies in a row he’s been awful. Kind of sad we won’t see more of ATJ and his beefy abs

 

Thinking more about this and I liked that it wasn’t some end of the world scenario. Just some gangsters in a turf war and a shitty dad. Plus it knew it was dumb and corny and leaned into it and didn’t pretend to be anything else for the most part.

 

I like Fred. He’s weird as hell but nails the weirdness.
