i will say that ppl who think life is peachy is their best have a lot of justification for that opinion

my issues (lol) with the record are all personal and long-standing, but the first seven tracks of life is peachy... totally the best korn record ever. two songs about writer's block is just two too many for me

I love that the record is dumb, I love that it feels like a band fucking around and having fun in a room half the time. don’t really get that vibe with their other stuff ever. I also think the performances are just so tight and live-feeling on it, and the production is just rough around the edges enough. lyrics are ultimately one of the least important facets of music for me as a listener, so I guess if I put more weight into them the similar themes might bug me more idk. I don’t really see K@#ø%! as being explicitly about writer’s block tho, more a product of it if anything idk. the guitar and drum performances throughout the record are what really pushes it over the top for me tho, bass too actually.

"K@#ø%!" is more a product of writer's block you're right. i like your explanation!!! it's totally the most amazing korn album instrumentally???? cf. "porno creep" which is like korn's haunted liminal space

"i love that the record is dumb" is exactly how i would characterize my enduring affection for chocolate starfish so i def think it's legit

:) I really love how porno creep works as a segue into Good God with those final drum/cymbal hits and then the intro drum hits to Good God.

another thing about the album for me is I feel like it has a lot of Jonathon’s best vocal moments. my fav being in Good God when everything cuts out and he just screams “NOW” so loud it like clips the signal lol.

  16. I'm still familiarizing myself with the first four albums before moving onto Untouchables, still think it's hard to beat self-titled (followed closely by Follow the Leader)

I grew up with Korn in their hey day (first 5 or 6 albums/all over MTV) and I still don't understand the Life Is Peachy love. I think there's 3 good (maybe their best?!) songs and the rest is extremely half baked.

Korn III isn't that great, but I really like Oildale.

korn iii starts and ends really well, and i really love some of its more left-field moves, like the bridge of "lead the parade"... the riffs are just a little too basic and some of the songs don't really come together imo. also every time davis talks about recording with ross robinson it sounds like an abusive situation to me

i feel like, given serenity and the nothing, they are really on the verge of producing another all-time korn record, fingers crossed

i knew jonathan played some drums on the untitled record but i had like... literally no idea that he's the drummer on "trash" until i watched a behind-the-scenes video from the issues recording sessions. freakin rules

A few years ago Jonathan said he wasn't happy with that record because of working with Ross again.
